You can find cheap deals on used LT parts. But neither is cheap..
But with a first gen you could do leaf springs and a used axel retively cheaper then lt. But thats no fun.

Not enough to have a build thread.
Depends on how built you want your tons. With gears, a locker, drive flanges, you're looking at about 1500 - 2k for a front dana 60. More if you go kingpin. Rear will probably be another grand. Drivelines you can get for about 500. Then you still have to mount them all up and put steering on. The suspension is relatively cheap if you leaf it, or you could go kings...

Why 1 tons? seems over kill for a camping rig. for a tailor queen sure. That is why LT makes more since for the most of us off road junkies. I thought about building a T queen. but reality set in and i would use it only a few times a yr., Life just gets in the way.

Decided to try fabricating a rear dual swingout tire carrier! So far the latch and spindle took longer than everything else combined. Went till I ran outta wire but the little Lincoln 140 hd is doin it! Have it set with mig and 25/75. The bumper in an allpro tube that I reinforced with square tube to add the spindle.
And at metal mart off sunrise next to the 50, 10ft of tubing is only 25 bucks! And they have a bunch of misc stuff like $1 / pound

DD on 40s hahaha you must hate gas mileage....itd be sexy though. I'd walk around and stare and be jealous. And if you throw kings and some crazy concoction of bumps and bypasses and links....ill sit and wait so I can hug you and ask to ride shotgun for the most epic mall crawl session of my life.

Yeah would be nice either way, but sometimes you have to be content and live within reason on a DD.

At least I will be next month.
