What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Having an upgraded front bumper , Does the Air Bag effectiveness got affected \ overwrite in an event as you mentioned ?

 

I know that ARB has always been proud of the claim that their bumper works with the factory airbag sensors, so as far as they go it should remain the same. I'm sure though with some of the cheaper options that's something to consider

 

I think tube bumpers look a lot better without the light hoop.

 

I need to put mine up for sell.

 

I'll give you mmmmmaybe half of what that other one went for, lol. But you're across the country so it wouldn't work out unless you're coming to CA anytime soon. I'm sure someone over there would love to scoop it up

 

Now if it was half the price why would I sell?

Yep, when I first bought my Truck,I immediately tried putting in an order and found out about how he burnt some folks. Still to this day it’s the best looking 1st gen bumper imo.

Yeah it's a damn shame... don't know why he did what he did, but he should've kept up his business, could've really started something for himself or sold it off like Prinsu did to CBI.

I was, just moved two days ago. I lived in Arden/Hendersonville for a few years. I came to put my stuff in storage and then doing a multi state road trip.

 

Yeah i cant imagine someone giving up lots of business. Just a sign dude had major personal problems that most likely he created for himself, but Im bummed too. Woulda loved to have one too, but i was a couple years late too.

There's an inertia sensor on each side inner fender well.

I could easily see how adding an aftermarket bumper would change how those read in the case of an accident.

 

He got in over his head while still trying to fulfill other obligations in his life. The fact that he got behind on orders or even took too many orders doesn't make Tim a shitty person. It's that he held the money and then wouldnt keep up any contact. So asking for a refund or a build update was basically met with silence. This all went down about the time I joined TW so I remember it being a big deal. Now Tim is among the ranks of TW exiles like Skygear

 

Those inertia sensors don't exist for us lucky 95-97 folk, just the center mount g sensor.

 

I think those are the ones I'm going with whenever I have the extra funds for sliders

 

damn, yeah I didn't know much about it but that sucks. I've seen that happen here a few times in the last couple of years, people going ghost when they get overwhelmed with the popularity of what they're selling/offering. That whole ARB snorkel shit show comes to mind. I understand getting overwhelmed but taking the money and disappearing is a shady low-life act for sure, it's not hard to return someone's money for an unfinished order unless you've already gone and spent it, I suppose. Bad business ju ju

 

The airbag sensor mounted up front on the fender wells is still an inertia switch. So an aftermarket bumper wont adversely effect it. If anything it would be more sensitive to smaller impacts. Do to the fact of losing the crumple effect of the stock bumper that dissipates impact forces.
