Yeah the DMZ setup is the favorite of the LT group. Easy to install yourself and works very well.

Hope your motor get sorted soon. I think you'll love your truck again once it's back running proper...

Signed my life away to the bank tonight. The loan gets funded tomorrow and then I should be a "home owner" by the weekend.

Thanks! It's going to be fun! Luckily there isn't much we have to do to the place. Most of the major work has been done recently. We are crossing our fingers we can make it 5 years without anything substantial.

I am excited how easy and smooth this process was. I was able to keep my goal of staying under 100k, no immediate repairs, low maintenance/utilities and would make a quick rental if we needed to leave in a year. My only wish is that it had a bigger garage. Can't win them all!

I hear that from all of my friends and family. If you talked to some of the older locals they would have you believing that I overpaid by 25k . To be fair, they never seen the place or its condition. There are some real shitboxes around here that you could get into for 75k but the foundation is shot and the interior was never updated. You'd be at 100k easily if you wanted to fix them up at all.

to get into a place that isn't a disaster out here is 220-250k at least. And thats probably the same kind of place you have. Something bigger or with any acreage is 300-400k.

Guess it pays to live where no one else wants to. We are hoping to stack our savings/retirement while we can live so cheap. To top it off, this place has a pellet stove for heating, and we won a ton of pellets for $160 at the NWTF banquet. A ton retails at $210 here so this next winter will be nice and cheap to heat.

its funny...cause...no one wants to really live here like that. Its just no one here wants anything to change, grow, or flourish. Similar to Sheridan. Add that with how the Miners get paid and how desperate they are to find a place to live and everything doubles up in price.

    Sucks.

Thats a good deal! I liked having a wood stove for heat, just not as THE source of heat. Made for cold mornings haha

It wasn't too bad this last winter with the wood stove. We paid for 2 cords chopped though so most of the work was done for us. Once we burned through that it was a pain because I chop wood a few times a week and it's not dry enough. It will be great to have pellets. All you have to do is dump them in and turn it on. Controlled heat all day and none of the mess that comes with stacking wood.

O! I forgot to mention Lizzy got a new job. She is going to be working as a Wildlife Research Biologist with IDFG this summer. She will be gone for 8 days hiking into remote wetlands to sample amphibians and then have 6 days off. I'm super jealous as she will be in some really cool country.

I'm jealous too. You need to talk to your supervisor about time for some interagency training.:)
