I want to see how it would work with some Baja Designs S2 sports. Saw a picture of this idea on a Raptor and I thought it looked good

Did you see posts 647 and 648? The S2s are too large (maybe that’s why you want to futz with the design).

Yes I did see those. I just wanted to mess around with a few designs I had in my head! I get tired of drawing all work related stuff haha. Plus I have access to an industrial grade 3D printer to play with ha

You need 3 S2s to make it look right. . .

Having installed the Baja Design third brake light, I personally think that this design will be way too much and look out of place. However, I think there have been other products designed for our trucks and installed that look way out of place. To each their own.

I do agree with this. Having just the one of each isn’t symmetrical and my OCD would be on fire :bananadead: However, it would be the same thing as those that install rear lights and do one White and one Amber.

My guess is this may be one item he passes on since most of his creations he designs for his own truck and if he really likes it and it’s a big hit, then he typically offers it out to the community to purchase as well. With him already stating, “...for the Tacoma they are Wayyyy too big. Yes they could be installed, but they would look out of place,” I do not believe with the lack of time he already has with all of his amazing mods he currently has going, he will have time to make this happen. I could be wrong, but I would be surprised. I think since @Tori_the_Taco has access to a 3D printer, he could probably print up a couple for the few that would like to place the S2s up in the third brake light. With this being the scale of the S2s up to our third brake light...

    DF09ACDF-AC69-4D41-992C-529B75A8713B.jpg

Installing the S2s in that small of a space will just look odd. Maybe you could try to install the BD S2s in the already existing hole and mount it flush to the Cab without a housing itself. I don’t know. That would look better, I think, than designing that big of a housing for the roof line that we currently have on our trucks.

My suggestion would be to remove your third brake light, measure the existing opening and what you would need for the S2s, and then flush mount it to the Cab. Here’s the opening...

    A21F7837-6D98-4707-A7A0-296001DB9E85.jpg

My guess with only mounting 2 S2s in this location, you will have a gap in the middle which you wouldn’t want to have. However, if you push the S2s closer together so that there isn’t an opening in the middle, you will have the outside that is visible with the existing holes so you would need to design something to cover the outside. Best scenario would be to cut the existing hole big enough to fit 3 S2s and flush mount them to the Cab after you print a flat housing that you could seal to the Cab and then mount the S2s too as well. Otherwise, the gap between the S2s would leak water into the Cab and headliner. That’s if you really really want the S2s up there. Good Luck!!

Prefer MESO design, small, unique, and cool. To each their own, but this is too large and not symmetrical. Plus I have already purchased and painted the Baja lights for MESOs design, so I'm selfish! Ha ha ha

Hi @mesojdm , any estimate on when your 3rd brake light creation might be ready for purchase? When I was washing my truck this weekend I saw that my light has a crack of the passenger end of it form the lens to the black trim ring. Not sure how that happened other than them torqueing it too much at assembly. Anyways, don't want to spend money on a factory replacement if yours is on the way to market. Plus with this cracked light I'll just bust it out like you mentioned in an earlier post to replace with yours instead of dropping the headliner.

Yeah there are two ways to install this.

1)Drop the headliner, install from the back and have it reversible if you sell/don't like

2)smash the shit out of your light, and put the new one in it's place from the outside, which is a perma mod.
