Ask yourself this. Why didn't Toyota add TSS to the 4Runner? Why didn't Toyota add the 3.5 to the 4Runner? They didn't because they aren't going to put development dollars into a vehicle that they are going to discontinue. For 2018 Toyota uses TSS on every vehicle in their lineup. Even the Yaris get TSS. The Tundra even got the updated TSS and they plan on completely redesigning the truck shortly with rumours of a hybrid model with aluminum panels. My point is Toyota is big on safety and the 4Runner isn't getting any of those new developments. You can call BS and stick you head in the sand but the writing is on the wall, the 4Runner will go the way the FJ and the Venza went.

Nah. It might get dropped for one year and a new generation introduced the year after but the model won't be put on ice forever. The 4Runner sold 120k+ units last year. Why would they discontinue it all together? The sequoia does less than 25k units - thats the one that needs to go.

Didn't read the whole thread but stay away from Dodge's. Unless you like failing transmissions.

I'd vote for another Taco or 4runner with a 3rd row for your expanding fam. We owned a 2006 4runner for 10 years before switching to the Taco and we loved that truck.

Loved the Tacoma just too under powered for my way of driving. Resale value means nothing on a lease, but the f150 leases just as good as a Tacoma. You really don't have a clue about why guys stay on this forum, it isn't always about the Tacoma, this forum has a lot of other great things to offer as well.

18 Tacoma Trd Or is available with leather now... just saying.

Also the Dodge Ram and Chevy Silverado are both having major model updates for 2019. If you go full size you can probably score a deal on a 2018.

I had a Tundra for 10 years loved the truck! Lots of room and rode like a car! But was definitely a true truck when I needed it to tow a trailer or haul bikes.

the lease terms may be as good as a Tacoma but no truck keeps its value better than a Tacoma. I've never heard of an F-150 being worth more at the end of a lease than the buyout. This happens regularly in Tacoma.

No doubt about that, only had the Tacoma for a little over a year, Ford dealership bought it outright from toyota for a little over 32k I walked away owning nothing on the Tacoma. The new Tacoma is geared more for the younger crowd in my opinion. Would love the 3rd generation with the 2nd generation 4.0, especially with the 3.90 gears.

The 4Runner isn’t going anywhere dude. It completely owns its class. It is always top 5 resale and value retention. It is one of Toyota’s bread and butter vehicles. They know they will sell every single one produced without fail. It ain’t going away anytime soon. The tundra will go away before 4 runner does, and I own BOTH of these vehicles. If anything the T4R will follow in the Fortuner’s footsteps in the next Gen.

I wouldn't be so confident about it. Toyota has toyed with the idea of killing off the 4Runner in recent years. It is far overdue for an update because they don't want to spend the money on it.

I can’t recall the exact title, something like TRD pro lineup for 2019.

I'm an auto dealer, I sell T4Rs all the time. This came straight from my Toyota store. If it wasn't for US dealers complaining about it, Toyota was going to kill it a few years ago .

Sure they were. Businesses typically kill off their best selling products just for the thrill of it. They also typically consult their dealers about major business decisions.

Just like how they are bringing the diesel to the tacoma because my salesman told me so!

Toyota is a big believer in TSS and have put it on every vehicle in their 2018 line up accept the 4Runner. Now why do you think that is, Dude?

Because they are going to introduce a new 4Runner? Seriously? Is that your only point? You think they are going to discontinue a 120+ thousand unit seller? Why? Just for shits and giggles? They are going to update it. You think they are really going to just cede a segment they control for fun?

Do you understand how what the primary goal of a business which sells a product is?
