Yes...same here. My frame looks great, but it's a 2011 with the better frames.

I have a question about the third gens. I was looking at my father in law’s 2018 Sport and noticed that there is quite a bit of space behind the grill. More than I’ve ever noticed on any vehicle. Why did Toyota leave so much empty space under the hood? Seems like the truck could have been made shorter or they could have shoehorned a bigger engine in there. Any ideas?

Lots of newer vehicles have this. It's part of the newer pedestrian impact safety regulations.

You laugh. But yes. I forget what the actual numbers are. But a pedestrian is supposed to be able to survive an impact upto a certain speed. That requires the front grilles to have a lot of dead space to collapse and absorb as much energy as possible.

Yes ma'am. The European regulations are much tighter than ours. They've been talking for years about those regs coming our way. So far they've not gone that far. But most manufacturers in The States have begun to implement their own ped regs.

It effects how vehicles are designed and how they look as well. Notice how many cars these days tend to have large blunt noses and high belt lines?

I'm aware .. we have to go through training on all this stuff to keep up certifications.
