Is there any reason why I shouldn’t do the boost reference or bypass restrictor removal mod?

Because I just did both this morning and now my truck drives amazingly. So what’s the catch? Why wouldn’t Magnuson do this in the first place?

 

Signal issue/change after a certain year.
Ive seen the issue pop up here over the years but cant remember exact year trucks effected.

 

Are you doing this blind or do you have a wideband 02 setup?
Everytime i did the boost referencing i ran STUPID rich. Like bottomed out the gauge at 10:1 and bet it was in the 9's at wot. Truck acted like it too, sluggish when the pedal was buried, but would wake up if i modulated it.

Maggy i assume was worried about initial knock. The boost comes on faster and at part throttle when around 13 and 14:1

 

I still get occasional p0420 and p0430 codes even with the ucon and Scott tweaking it multiple times.
I had the same issue with the o2 sim when it was installed before the ucon.

 

My o2 sim almost never gave me a code, and my ucon never did not even once

 

I still have my restrictor in. It dampens the spring force in the bypass valve. So people have had some pinging with it removed.

 

Maybe one of the differences in ecu's since mine is a 15.

 

At what rpm does pinging occur

 

I dont think its rpm dependent but boost dependent.

Yup .. I know of 2 others, 15’s ..

After about 5 sessions with Scott.. pretty much gave up.

Clear code and go about my day.

 

Am I correct to understand 15's and the 02 sim give codes despite tuning?

Yup, totally blind. I’m on the Magnuson 2.85 pulley tine. Should I go back to non boost reference?
