    Many here may be aware of my King coil issue whereby at full droop my UCA ball cup touches/scraps a section of the coil.

    Heard many suggestions. Decided to try one. I borrowed a MacPherson strut spring compressor from AuTo Zone. Free. Got the truck on a jack stand. Decided to take all tension off the coil by backing off all the turns I had on the adjustment. As I was backing off turns the coils moved at the same time. Jacked up using the LCA so as not to further scrap the paint of the coil. Guessing this must be how they got scraped originally, not realizing then that the UCA cup was touching. Put the jack under the LCA to lift slightly to get the UCA off coil. So, by turning the collar adjustment I was able to position the coil so that the UCA does not contact the coil on full droop.

    Talked with Micah at Downsouth yesterday. He said the position of the coil in relationship to the collar is random at assembly. Some just touch. Gee, lucky me. So now back to today. No touching for now. But, new problem. The collar is turned now so that I am unable to access the collar hex tightening bolt. WTF? No breaks for Don. What am I missing? Is there a solution that eludes me?

    CBI sliders, ADS extend travel with compression adjuster coil overs, 9” Bilstein 5125 rear shocks, Icon Tubular UCA, Alcan custom leafs, All Pro Apex bumper and skids, NWTI rear diy bumper, 295/70/17 Cooper St Maxxs and nitro 4.88s.
    My girlfriends second gen needs new leafs, for stocks are shot. She has kings with resi all around, maybe about 1” lift would be perfect. She has a campershell, bed platform and we add addition 200/250 lbs when we go rock climbing or camping.

    Any of you second gen guys got a suggestion. She doesn’t wheel much and wants to maintain a good ride. I was thinking a custom pack from Alcan might be the best option but not too sure.

    Not enough to have a build thread.
    Sounds like you're going to have to pull the whole coilover out, tighten the pinch bolt, then reinstall.

    Is the coil supposed to spin when the collar is turned? I realize there is tension, therefore friction, but is it supposed to be that positive, in that if I turn the collar a quarter inch, the coil turns a quarter inch. Was hoping it would just push coil down, not twist so much. Though the turning of coil did help me in adjusting away from UCA, now I’m getting hosed with pinch bolt. Will I screw up the collar if it isn’t tightened down? Will it strip, or just move around!

    I loved my Dakar’s and had a similar load to hers regularly. More lift than an inch, but not as expensive as a custom pack either.

    Maybe 63s?

    Well, I adjusted the collar enough so I could still tighten the pinch bolt. It’s not as good but a happy compromise. Micah said yesterday that it would not adversely affect the structure of either component. We shall see.
