Ive already got enough wood for the first trip, bosses shop is by a never ending construction site so every friday i tour the garbage bins for 5 min and gather all the wood i can fit.

This saw was the right price and in perfect condition. I can also get all the parts for it where I work, they do Poulan parts sales.

These going to help fit larger tires for better MPG?

 

Doing 1.5" lift all around, still keeping my 265s on, I am too lazy to go thru all the trouble that @Joe23 went to, just to increase ground clearance by 0.65".

Removing overload leaf too, for best flexing

Either do 40s or go home! (35s at minimum).

 

I was kind of shocked by how much extra lift the tires and wheels gave me. I drove it all winter with the lift installed on the winter tires and rims, then when I put the 17's and Maxx's it was very noticeable.

 

No doubt, but I guarantee that every place that you can go with 285s, 265s can go too, just going to rub a belly a bit more.
I am just not feeling going thru all the cutting and beating for 0.65".

Spending money to spend more money on gas... With our new prices recently that is a big hit lol

5100 all around plus some heavy duty coils for your bumper, can be done under $1000. Do it!

I got those (FOX) for a great price from TW member here, brand new too.

 

so the other night i priced out this entire setup

− OME 9000 Front Shocks
− 2886 Front Heavy Coil overs
− EL096R Rear spring pack
− OME 60091 Rear Shocks

grand total was 1600 bucks. where the hell are you finding it for a grand?

 

My bet is he is not, mine was not $1k either and I did 5100's

 

On the previous truck I did those (didn't do coils) so it's $469 plus single AAL for around $40(each) and some coils.

I messed with my truck today on the lift, greased the zerks on the drive line. Used almost an entire can of jigaloo white grease on the dakars to see if the squeak could be silenced.

On the ride home it was still a little squeaky, 3 hours later when I went to pick up the chainsaw all the squeak was gone.

I even went out for another drive just to make sure, and for now it is silent. Hopefully the grease stays and doesnt just wash off right away.

 

Well how much coils will cost, another $500? That will be in the $1000 territory.

Even my FOX suspension I got for $800 USD + 3 Leaf AAL for $180 USD which is around $1250 CAD, could have been closer to $1000 cad if I did just a single AAL.

I am not sure if it's a good option to go with OME shocks, you can't recharge them. That's why I went with FOX this time around, I can recharge them later in US/Canada and keep running vs buying new shocks every 60K (assuming you actually abuse them).

 

What do you suggest in exchange? I have a lot of weight being added on. in the front especially with arb bumper and whinch

I honestly don't know for your case, @tacoma16 is doing something about it, let's see how well it survives this summer after all his abuse.

@Theicemedic runs pretty heavy too(HC bumper, steel bumper at the front with a winch, bed bars, roof rack etc) I think he has 5100 + 866ish coils and he is doing fine I believe.

@Joe23 FOX 2.5 setup didn't convince me to spend over 3K either, so I would not go with those 2.5 with the resi.

I will be able to tell you if FOX 2.0 is any good after the first trip, the only reason I went with FOX over 6112 is the price I got them for, they are rechargeable and aluminum (will rust slower)

Another option might be doing 6112/5160 combo, @Jake4848 has them and I quite enjoyed the ride for the cost of doing them.


I would rethink about the weight, take what you really need, not want.

I mean it's nice to have the RTT, fridge, etc but added weight was not in favour of MPG and suspension was shit on the trails, plus the worry of things being stolen... that's why I got rid of RTT and returned to my ground tent and simplified the setup.
Same thinking about E-rated tires, I dumped KO2s after one summer and I am now running P rated tires (which are 2x times weight less btw). I am going to test this summer and see how they do, but I have the trust in that commie rubber.
Armour is another thing, we are not jeeps - so no crazy rock climbing (unless you do 40s lol)

You have to get out there and try it yourself and see what works, I feel very comfortable doing trails with 265s and aluminum armour after last summer.
The only steel I will have on the truck are sliders, well because... trees!

So with my build im going to be shying away from the RTT until i can make my dream overland trailer. So ill be utilizing the back as a sort of camper. All of those items listed are more of a wish list, and depending mostly on the monies, itll have be reduced to what do i absolutely need

that being said i am more than ready to have everyone else test out their lifts and get back to me with a full report. what you like dislike etc etc
