Check this video out on coating the inside of the frames, but not the rubberized undercoating on the outside.

The first dealer I have been going to for 8-9 years for all my oil changes and other stuff , I spent a lot of money there . They wouldn’t even flush my tranny . So fuck them . Traveled almost 100 miles to the dealer I bought it from for tranny flush and they failed it .Thats the first time I have been back in 10 years ! So get this ....... both dealers tried to tell me no filter / strainer in our transmission. o_O I said look I’m no mechanic but have been watching the videos on these trannies and there is a strainer / filter . Neither of the dealers ,even the one that did the flush would drop the pan. wtf :annoyed:

I figured as much, also, the service guy tried to tell me that I had to wait 1 year to get the frame inspected again! What an ass hat! -_- Definitely never going there for anything ever again

That's what I did on the inside of my frame but I used NH oil. Amazon has the the 360 degree spray nozzle extention to fit any spray can, you can find it when you do a search for Fluid Film.

Yeah, I would try a diffrent dealer if you can. I guess it's not a bad thing that there aren't holes in your frame but I hope they would offer to coat it.

New Hampsire oil, yes similar to fluid film oily film like lithium grease. Cavity wax is thick sticky wax known as paraffin wax also known as sex wax on surf boards. I would use this stuff over the top of fluid film or any other creeping oil, sealing all the pinch welds on the frame. The cavity wax doesn’t lose shape like oils over time.

Just think of the small amount of money it would take to coat the inside and outside with a product you showed, compared to the millions of dollar with a hit to their reputation with the frame rust problem.

They replaced my frame 2 years ago, took 6 months to get the frame built, they changed the frame, brake and fuel lines lower control arms, rear leafs. I had em toss in new rear shocks and change the trans fluid. They gave me a corrolla to drive and it took em 2 days. They only charged for the shocks and trans service, thats pretty good service and toyota kept a customer. As a side note i sprayed fluid film on the frame and every other chunk of metal under neath in the fall and will be doing that every year!

All Toyota bodies since 2005 are dipped in primer before final coating is applied. That’s why the Tacoma bodies are almost rust free yet.

Well yah, why inspect it every 3 months or something stupid. They make you wait a year to see if the condition deteriorates in that short amount of time. Just the policy regarding this recall :boink:

I get that waiting 3 months or so wouldn't be enough time to eat a hole into the frame that isn't there, I'm saying that I've been under the truck enough to know that his "no perforation, as in none whatsoever" answer is just him blowing smoke up my ass. There aren't massive holes in my frame on the order of a few inches, but, there are holes sporadically throughout it. I've read all 19 pages of this post so far and honestly from other peoples experiences, it just sounds to me like the tech that performed the inspection and the service writer were being lazy because I brought it in on a Saturday. They were also supposed to check my driveshaft and u-joints but apparently, they "dont do road tests on Saturdays so I'll have to bring it back during the week." Either way I'll take it to another dealer and see what they say. The service writer told me they haven't replaced any frames there yet because none of the trucks they get are from the rust belt, where as mine spent its whole life in PA before I bought it down here in Florida.

Looks equal to my dealer in Ma, we usually have about 5-6 frames going at once and the techs inspecting all do a great job. Makes sense that they dont often do frames in florida, if you can tap through any part of the frame that is the size of a quarter or so then you are Elligible for replacement. Saw one pass a couple days ago that was indeed pretty god damn crusty and crunchy looking. We looked all over but it was still solid! Got any pictures of your frame Darek661 im curious of how bad it is.

Sorry to say, but I don’t know if I would trust any dealer in the southern states to do a frame swap. From what I heard you need a dealer that has done at least a half dozen to be good at the whole process. Including inspection, crc coating and final frame replacement. If they haven’t done one to began with they sound scared to try.

What's even stranger, the service writer didn't even mention undercoating after the inspection. This dealer is brand new and has only been open maybe a year, if that long. It's in a very affluent area that's surrounded by high end dealers so maybe that's why they treated me like they did. I'm a southern blue collar type, not a suit and tie. I'll take some pictures post inspection tomorrow at work because it's pouring rain right now (welcome to Florida) and I dont have a garage.
