Interesting I was wondering why mine shakes while braking at around 20 mph. I just live with it since I hate going ro the dealer and end up walking home since its around the corner.

If you'd have asked me that same question 3 months ago, I would have answered it with a resounding "never again".

In spite of loving a lot about my truck, and feeling like it's the coolest vehicle I've ever owned (my 2nd gen would have been cooler if I'd have been smart enough to by a 4x4 back then), my overall opinion has been very negative. I've had a relatively large amount of trouble out of it that I don't even care to list. When people see my truck they say "Nice truck!" and my response for the last 3 years has been "Yep, don't buy one." Main reason I have still been driving mine is because my dealership apologetically provided me with a platinum extended warranty as a result of all my troubles.

My opinion changed about 3 months ago, when I came to the conclusion that I needed to get rid of my Tacoma and started actively looking to trade. What I learned through my test drives and EXTENSIVE research with other trucks was this: literally every single truck on the market these days is subject to the same, if not worse, problems, with obviously lower build quality and poorer support in the dealership service departments to boot. I gave up on trading my truck in. The latest TSB seems to have resolved my transmission issues with the flare from 3-4th in the morning (we'll see, it's only been a month), and I might end up in deeper debt by trading for something that requires extensive service after the warranty has expired.

So would I buy a Tacoma again? Yes. But really it's mostly because they're the shiniest turd in the $#!*hole. Not because I love it to death. They don't make good trucks anymore. Nobody does.

The grass is not always greener on the other side. Sometimes you can do all that work to get over the fence only to find out it's just more of the same... or worse: astroturf that just looks good from a distance.

Same. I'm crazy about my paint and still think it looks awful. Swirls, scratches, water spots, you name it.

Having detailed cars for a few years, black is that absolute worst. Looks the best when clean, but gets dirty so fast and shows every imperfection. I came from a black car and I'd get another black car, but you can't expect the paint to look perfect for very long.

No and traded for f150 xlt sport with the 3.5 ecoboost. Tacoma is a nice truck, just no low end torque. I have a 10 speed transmission and it doesn’t shift near as much as the Tacoma. Power is unreal without hardly touching the gas pedal to make it go.

Would I buy my truck again? Yup! I love it! Is it perfect? Nope, of course not, but I've had her for a year now, got 11,000 miles on her and no issues.

Sounds about right. As soon as you drive it off the lot, say goodbye to 10-20% of its value.

I'd get the springs if you can... It really does help... But its not a 100% fix...

And the piss poor machining job on the axles is a no fix... For quite some time I feel..

Maybe one day.... When we are all out of warranty..

    Fuck it... Its a truck..lol

I know. It looks amazing from 5 feet away and I love it when it's clean. After I wash it, and look closely under the lights in the garage, it's a house of horrors.

Next time I get around to it I was going to bring it up at the dealer. I live 3 minutes from them. Last time I had the truck serviced they tried to sell me a calvery blue automatic pro. I might had done it if it was a manual and I didnt need to tow( trying to change this).

Yeah that's the same story I hear from others. I'd set my sites on an F-150, in fact. Then every single one I set foot in looked and felt like the interior would fall apart if you sneezed on it. With a dog and a clumsy fiance with sharp nails and lots of rings, I suspected immediately it wouldn't hold up to my abuse. Problems confirmed by gashes in the plastic of used models as well as the users at the F150 forums. Reinforced by the now infamous F150 dash warp issues. Now there's a recall on the 10 spd transmissions? Doors falling apart was pretty widespread. Throttle body problems. Ecoboosts had a 6 month run of needing entirely new heads. The 2.7s even have plastic oil pans. It just was immediately clear I was taking just a big a chance on them as I was with the Tacoma. They just didn't strike me as the silver bullet I was looking for: a truck I could pay off and keep driving until I retire.

Not me , never ! My 2017 Tacoma was a huge disappointment with many issues. The best day I had was the day I sold it. As a long , long time Toyota customer i’m taking a break from Toyota my last couple were not great so I’m looking at Jeeps and Fords.
