You got some pretty bad cracking. That sucks but I guess it comes with the fun. I definitely want to get ahead and start reinforcing now.

I have no idea, I could see it going a couple different ways:

    1) Best case I could imagine would be using preexisting holes and it stiffens it up and holds properly
    2) If you drill holes it could create another point for flexing and facilitate a crack developing through the drilled holes( I have this happening on my power steering cooler mounting, a drilled hole has allowed a crack to develop and has been slowly propagating over my last couple trips)
    3) It works in the immediate areas of the clamp, but redirects the vibrations/fatigue elsewhere and cracks develop in adjacent areas.

Now if you add in some kind of epoxy.......are you thinking JB weld? That sounds like an interesting idea, never thought of it, but it maybe it could help reinforce any drilled areas and help bond the plating together. I like the idea, I may try to use it myself.

I *think* the plates I welded in on the front are delaying those big ass cracks I had there from getting worse, but then again I could just have shifted the fatigue somewhere else, or the hardened welds will just all fail at some point. I'll take a good look at it on Monday and see how well its holding up, I've got a lot of work to do, 60K maintenance, my driverside "The Truck Shop" spindle gusset has a crack in one of the sides of the "box". And today after I got home from John Bull my passenger LCA uniball its creaking like a mofo, I've had them for about a year now, it might need to be replaced, and trying to install a disc conversion in the rear.

    Check Build thread
Well the factory Toyota lbjs lasted a total of 15k miles :anonymous:

And then the shop apparently couldn’t get the lca bushings out... and told me to get new lca’s. Derp. Should have just torched them out myself :bananadead:

Also have a crack on my upper radiator core support from possibly worn body mount bushings... or just happened. Either way I’m gonna butt weld grind then plate and weld

So you think “chubby hooker” is a better name?

    How about “Creamy White”
