I've been reading about tires for 2 days straight...I can't decide

Mine are the E rating and have lasted a really long time on the light little Tacoma. A little bit tougher ride though. A lot better since I’ve taken off my sway bar. I really like the falkens as well. We have had them on my fiancé’s 4runner for a few months now and initial thoughts are very good.

 

I know. i'm 39 but I still want a monster truck. You're totally right though. I will most likely go with Michelins. I see the performance on my Camry street tires. They're awesome.

 

Thanks for the input. I do believe I'll end up with a Michelin tire, even if the Wildpeaks look incredible. LOL.

I'd much rather have the AT2's for looks. But these are just soooo damn nice on snowy roads and especially the hiway.

To be honest, when walking up on the truck in a parking lot, they really don't look to bad.

 

Those aren't bad at all. Just not flashy...which is me, so as much as I want some A/Ts, that's probably is what I'm going with. The AT2 doesn't have the siping like these do. What's a good price I should try to find? I have a local shop I usually deal with that I trust. But just want to price check them. I know Michelins aren't cheap...

I have the AT2s as well on the same exact 2007 dbl cab. I have over 120,000 on them and they are ready to be replaced. They were the same quiet tire up until 88'ish thousand miles and even then it wasn't bad. Rotated them every 6,000 miles and never had a flat or got stuck. I drive mostly highway with typical NE Ohio snow and never was left wanting for traction. If I wasn't selling the truck soon it would be a no-brainer to buy another set.

Cooper at3's if you dont want the super aggressive tires with the weight but you want I an aggressive tread pattern that wears and acts well this is your answer.

Good decision. All the input and advise on Michelins on here is good, and the old adage that you get what you pay for is especially true when it comes to tires.

 

Here are the 4Runner wheels I am going to be using. My 11 year old sport wheels are rusting bad.

I had the LTXs pictured (the older model) on my old 4runner when I bought it; I have no idea how many miles were on them at the time, but I got another 30k out of them before i finally replaced them with the Cooper AT3s.

The Coopers lasted me 65k and still ok tread when I sold the truck. They look like a jack of all trades but are actually way better off-road than you'd expect, and somehow way better on pavement than you'd expect as well. They were good in the rain when new, but man nothing beats the Michelins when it comes to wet traction and overall longevity.

With rotations every 3k or so, I'm hoping to get at least 45-50k out of my BFGs. I don't run tires bald like some people; when they start fading, and I start to feel like I'd be hesitant to hand the keys to people I care about, I replace them. It'll probably be the Michelin M/S2s next time, because of the legendary long wear and rain traction. They're not sexy in the same way a set of M/Ts are, but they do have a classic look that is appealing in their own right.

I put hankook dynapros 265/75/16s in november and used them quite a bit on snowy roads the past few months. They performed as well as you could expect an a/t tire to perform. They're P rated so they didn't kill my mileage. No complaints but I feel like they wear a bit. I think by the time I put 50K on them I would be surprised if they weren't bald. One perk is that they cost 120 each. Way cheaper than a lot of comparable a/t tires. But I think you probably get what you pay for in regards to quality rubber compounds.

 

The siping is unmatched, aside from going to a dedicated snow tire. As for looks, the M/S in a 265-70 or 75 is still a pretty damn large mass of black rubber. They fill the wheel wells nicely.

And as another poster mentioned, they have kind of a classic look to them. You know, from before the "flames" started appearing on the sides of all the AT tires. I appreciate a rugged tread. I don't particularly need fire on my tires.

 

A few times a year, Michelin and Bridgestone do $70 rebates on the purchase of 4 tires at Costco. I've also seen it advertised at other local tire shops.
