California Vehicle Code 23116 (a) No person driving a pickup truck or a flatbed motortruck on a highway shall transport any person in or on the back of the truck. (b) No person shall ride in or on the back of a truck or flatbed motortruck being driven on a highway.

You basically need a federally approved restraint system and roll bar to transport people in the bed. It needs to be a Jeep Wrangler, basically.

Are you surprised? After all this is a basically police state. LOL

The right answer is the nice weather, my answer is rust doesn’t exist. Plus I was born and raised here so I don’t count haha.

Why do you think California and Florida have such a huge population? All the old people from the Midwest move there to get away from the cold.

Despite the Communist Russia-esque laws we have, it’s a really beautiful state. The effect wears off quickly though once you see the cost of living here.

We have an abundance of amazing trails all over the state (except the Bay area apparently) and no real rust issues to speak of...that's about as much credit as I'll give CA. It gets hot AF where I live.

I’ve probably seen snow once or twice in my life. I can see why people who have lived in frost states would want to move to hot humid Florida. It’s basically discount California... LOL

You can't smoke here either, I was talking about where I'd rather be.... WA, OR, CO. AZ only exists as a living situation because some nutter figured out how to pipe water here. But between here and a place with humidity I'll happily take the extra twenty degrees instead.

Oh we have LOTS of public trails, but they’re all for pedestrians and the occasional bicyclist. There’s a couple SVRA’s around here that I know of. Santa Cruz Mountains has some good spots apparently.

I was up in Santa Cruz for xmas and looking for some trails but everyone I talked to said the closest thing was Hollister Hills and it was about an hour away, not bad but I couldn't find out about anything in the mountains there...It'd be awesome to though because those mountains are beautiful

The only reason Denver exists is because the Pioneers who just traversed the Great Plains to get to California saw the Rocky Mountains and said “Fuck that, this is close enough.”

Ah right Hollister Hills. Driving on the highway through the mountains to get to Santa Cruz sucks though, but the scenery is beautiful.

Not Santa Cruz, but here is a view off I-80 near the California-Nevada border. It’s a damn beautiful state.

AZ has good weed, plus awesome weather if you can handle heat. Medical state and the dispensaries are all spread out equally so you never have to drive far at all

    Yeah

I found some local river spots where I can go swimming, so far I've been 3x this year. Water feels amazing, there's still more spots to check out too so can't wait till it hits 118°
