...and $1.50 hotdogs while I wait. Wonder if they’d install the spacers too?

I asked them to fill my tires to 34psi. They said they couldn't put more psi in the tires than what it said on the door sticker... so, I'm guessing they won't install your spacers. Just a hunch :)

    Costco.

Often $70 off 4 (manuf. rebate), but Costco sells lower than street price.

About 2x a year they do a 1cent install, so that saves $60 over their normal price.

Lifetime rotation, balance, fill, hazard warranty.

(whatever they won't do, like spacers, do when you get home)

If not Michelin look at Firestone Destination AT's. Very reasonably priced, semi aggressive looking tread and long lasting. My brother got 60,000 out of his last set on a Tundra. You might get 70,000 out of Michelin, but they cost a lot more too.

i made the mistake of buying the Firestone destination AT over the ltx Michelin at2 (new at the time) based on the Consumer Reports tire reviews for the Firestones and the less cost for them, what a MISTAKE!, after they were worn out I finally did the right thing and payed up for the Michelins AT2 and these made the Destination ATs look like a joke, I would rate the LTX AT2s as a AAA+++ and the Destinations AT as a C- , as others have said you get what u pay for when it comes to tires. Get the MICHELINS and you will be a happy camper for at least 75k miles or more.

DA2FC33A-CD4E-405F-8CC7-D9ED78D51A3B.jpg I have a set of yokohama geolander AT go15. They have a 50k mile warranty and run about 165 at Walmart for 275/70-16. Good traction on super wet backroads and dirt/gravel. I picked these because I had two gift cards to Walmart that payed for 2 tires just about but I have been pleased thus far.

...Most likely the Defender LTX M/S or whatever Costco has currently. Smartest choice for my lifestyle even if they're not mean looking. LOL.

I think COSTCO only has the DEFENDER tire,I wouldask about theAT2 maybe they can get them ordered, usually theAT2 is cheaper per tire on the price.

I've had Capitol Precision Trac II's on my truck since I bought it a few years ago. I have zero complaints for a cheap tire. I've even done mild off roading and never had a leak or puncture with them. I can't imagine how good the Michelins will feel!!

I don't normally try to talk anyone into anything... But as long as you can get over the appearance of the Defender M/S, you'll be more than satisfied with the performance. As far as on-road/seasonal performance goes, you won't find a better riding tire for the Tacoma.

Which Coopers are still in the running?

See post #490 regarding the ST Maxx.

I’m pretty much done deciding. I’m going with the Defenders. Thanks for your help. I’ll post pics when installed!!

Good review- Thanks. Yeah they're a very capable tire. If I HAD to choose my most favorite thing about them, I'd say it's the quiet ride. They're almost silent in town. And quieter than my wife's Subaru on the hiway.

There's a video around here of a forum member rock crawling with them (not advisable due to possible side puncture, but a standing testament to capability).

I was running my last set in 245's. I ran them for 44k miles and they still had well over 1/2 of the useable tread left when I measured with a gauge. It was closer to 2/3. I sold them for $375 on CL and got some 265's. That nearly covered half my purchase cost.

FYI Michelin has the $70 rebate currently.
I just ordered 265/70/17 from DTD for 750 to my door. Will have the local America’s tire install them.

I'm also in the same boat of trying to find tires and have been looking at Toyo Open Country H/T.

Have you researched them at all?

I too really like the Wild peaks. Problem is they are pretty heavy. 47 pounds each....

I got dynapro atm 265/70-17 for just over 500 shipped. Look aggressive but great in all weather. 15k on them and no signs of wear. Super quiet too. Discount tire on ebay
