That's a really nicely made driveshaft and a nicely machined adapter flange. Is the 2JZ Taco daily-able now?

 

Wanted to share this switchback setup I'm doing here. Got the bulb a while back from superbrightleds. Doing this in both my truck and my girlfriend's truck. Most likely just going to glue this into the corner light. If I ever need to do a new one I can just cut it out or get another corner light for cheap off of ebay. LEDs should last for quite a while. All I did was take the base out of the turn signal housing, modify the bulb (as seen posted a page or two back for the 2jz taco... Not sure about mine yet), and took a Dremel to grind the hole out a bit bigger for the bulb to fit.

 

I wish I could do things like this. I'm handy but not that handy.

Wanted to share this with you all. Need to finish the battery tray and cleaning up wires. But other than that...air box! Little Dremel action to bore out where the MAF goes. Very low key and no one would never know it doesn't belong there.

Everything is all in there just not officially bolted down yet. I finally pulled all the tools out of the truck so I can start working on the interior next weekend. Will definitely post photos up when I get into it.

 

No biggie, was going through your thread and notice no updates on that. All good though, we all got other things to worry about.

 

QUESTION for you all- Axles.
Is the axle from a 6 cylinder Prerunner the same as one from a 4 cylinder Prerunner, both non locker? I'm seeing so much conflicting stuff on the internet for differential fitment between the two. Keep seeing things about the 4 cylinder having a smaller pinion, which isn't making sense.

I'm doing 4.88s for my regular cab and want to put my 4.30s in the 2jz Tacoma, as the motor favors higher RPMs than the 4.10s in it right now and 32" tires. As good as it is right now/before/JDM it'll really come for life with lower gearing in that range.

 

Yes the axle is the same, that difference only applies to pre 95 pickups and runners

^^with that said, I'm definitely going to be putting the 4.30 gears in this truck swapped over from my regular cab. Also, I know it's not as good as having a professionally modified valve body (not going to happen, tight budget), but I'm going to be shimming the springs so it shifts faster and firmer, rather than the current "luxury" sloppy shifts.

Anyhow, got the shifter semi done and the exhaust is fully welded up now. The Apexi N1 exhaust isn't exactly loud, but it isn't silent either. The truck sounds like a drift car which is really cool. No rice! I'll have to do a sound clip for you guys. It really sounds super cool!

Definitely. I'm waiting till I get everything I need working then going to cut off the excess then tuck it in.

 

How do you plan on hiding the shifter?

Post more interior pics, I'm curious on how you hooked up all the body electrical like the windows and mirrors and doors.

 

I'd let it stick out, wouldn't matter at this point.

Going to make a housing around the shifter with 1/8" aluminum plate.

 

Got the gauge cluster fully working and it displays what gear I'm in when using the push button shifters on the wheel. Freaking cool!!!!!
