Pulling the dash isn’t hard. Just tedious and time consuming. Helps to have two people and zip guns. I would put dye in the system and verify the evap core leak before you go tearing apart the dash. An ac refrigerant leak can come from anywhere.

What's annoying is that a test last year showed no leaks...

I don’t think so, there’s another shot online of the back. Can’t make out the tag, and it may even be a temporary, but it doesn’t seem familiar.

Get a squirt bottle with soapy water, take the service caps off and spray a little down by the Schrader valve(s). You can also spray any suspect (oily/dirty) connections where hoses an lines connect. Dye is good idea but soapy water is something you can by yourself before you get the recharge

Just recharge it yourself on the low side.

Do not do this! Those diy cans are garbage. I’ve seen them do more damage then good. How do you know how much is in your system before the recharge without evacuating the system prior. Plus a vacuum will draw air and moisture out of the system. Don’t just stick refrigerant in your system.

I don't have tracer dye though. I want my mechanic to put dye in the system so we can find the leak.

And if it does end up being something really expensive, luckily my dad has agreed to help me out on this. I pay for shit like stereo system, the WeatherTech accessories, and detailing the truck, but my dad would never let me go without A/C! My dad said he will do whatever possible to get my A/C working properly again, but he wants to make sure the problem is correctly diagnosed before he drops what could be potentially a thousand bucks or more into a repair. Our mutual agreement is that the truck only has 82K miles, has been paid off for about five years, and has a lot of life left.

 to the First National Bank of Mom and Dad!

Also, my girlfriend was wearing "Daisy Dukes" yesterday, and the A/C in my truck is still so cold that it was giving her goosebumps on her legs on the way to the car show! It's basically blowing ice cubes out three vents...

    Maybe it's a vent/door issue

I've been shown a diagram of the A/C vent in a 2nd Gen Taco, and there's no vent/door aside from the what separates dash from defogger and lower level...
