I just looked and REI garage has 60% percent off some hammocks, so I might try and get one! They have the one with a sleeve so your sleeping pad doesnt slide around

Are you talking about this one? I read some reviews on it and they weren't so good. Said the opening is small, but once in, it's a large area and the pad still slides around.

I think if you did a double hammock that'd give you enough material to hold yours in place. Mine stayed put really well!

If I used this, would I be able to have a cool accent also? I have one of those 'pop up' sun shades from the 2nd gen marketplace. the steel wires/hoops got all twisty and it doesnt close right anymore. I don't even know where it is anymore. barely used it... shit

@Subway4X4 not much of me wants to camp. but i will admit it looks fun, at least the fire and wilderness part. I would do the cot thing like James since it seems easy and I'm off the ground. cut me some slack here, I might give this a go.:rofl:

That's what camping is all about, is the fire and wilderness part! Plus it's fun to have to adapt to your environment, like cooking for example. Cooking is different than when at home, and that's fun to me. The sleeping part is meh, because it's never as comfortable as home, but something about waking up outdoors is awesome.

The accent comes with that brand of tent. If you buy different, unfortunately, you won't have it lol

As Randy said, camping is all about spending time in the wild, living a different life the time of a week end. To enjoy the trip you need to have good stuff tho. Nobody will like camping if it means sleeping on hard ground and being cold all night because you didn't get the right sleeping bag lol. In your case (@Redmann )maybe you just need the basic stuff to enjoy a good offroading week end far from home the cheap way (no room to rent) and not tryint to make it all in one day. Drivig back home after a whole day offroad is not a good idea.

So far all my trips to Rausch have been day trips. 2.5 hours there, 7-8 hours on the trails and 2.5 hours home :bananadead: That last hour on the way back is always terrible.

House mod... it's an ongoing mod. About as close as I'll ever be to having a cap too...

I have a Alps Mountaineering 4 person tent I originally had for music festivals and rolled it right into a camping tent. I have had great success with and would recommend it, its also simple and easy to setup/break down. After so many years the material is holding up great and plan on continue using it with the kids.

    Here's a good look

That sounds like a good arrival time for me. I won't be camping Saturday night though because I have to be at work 5:30am Sunday morning.

That's one of my favorite parts of camping. I get to hang with friends around a fire and get a little drunk and not have to worry about getting home.
