    886 is a pretty firm ride, and I almost wanted more weight up front when they were new, but a year later and it's a sweet combo with the arb and winch..

    I had riderites as well, sold them to a heep, for cheap.. they rode like crap without a couple hundred pounds in the box.. Not recommended, constantly refilling to adequate pressure, super easy to overinfkate and stress components.. generally riderites are designed for heavy towing applications, and aren't really suited to a tacoma.. my .02 anyway.. and AAL + stock leafs is definitely a band-aid brand fix. Go with a leaf pack.. My rear suspension is a heinz 57 of bad decisions, that by chance, and 4 years of tinkering, actually work ok, go dakar..

    We have different gear ratios (3rd vs 2nd MT) I believe, and if you ever visit TO you'll realize that you have no power with 33s and will be overtaken by beige corollas more often than you can count them :D

    I would go with the sumo springs over a air bag. But you could get the airbags that aren't fixed to the frame AND the axle....Only the frame, so when you droop the rear suspension you dont risk tearing a bag. If your looking for a cheaper rear leaf set up go to a spring shop and I am sure for a couple hundred bucks they could give you what your looking for.

    Biggest thing is think about the down travel...which do you want to be your limit (leafs or shocks) you can adjust stuff with up travel by adjusting the bumps...Down travel you have to put limit straps, but I don't do go fast stuff, so I am not worried about over extending the shock to the point of failure.

    I rode with the 886's with nothing on the front for a few weeks, and then just a bumper.

    lift just installed on 886's no bumper just crush can

    then with bumper and 265's and a couple months

    I didn't mind the ride as I am use to full size rigs....wasnt rough to me.

    I have the Bilstein 6112's up front set at the 2" setting and 5160's in the back with a 3 leaf AAL. I run 285/75R16 KO2's in the summer. I don't usually carry a lot of weight in the truck. My bed only has 2 20L jerry cans for daily driving. I've got about 20000km on my truck since I put the lift in.

    I absolutely love the ride. They started off feeling pretty stiff for the first few hundred km's. But now they have had plenty of time to settle in and they ride great. It feels less spongy/floaty than the factory bilstein's at highway speeds. At lowers speeds on the road it rides just a little stiffer than factory.

    Dirts roads are a night and day difference, it feels so much more in control (predictable) on dirt/gravel roads. Low speed off-road honestly feels the same as before just a little higher up.

    If anyone has questions about my setup just ask.

    @bfeth

    You could go to Multimatic, I believe there in Vaughn. Get a custom set up for the tacoma
    You would be the first ever!
    Shocks ride pretty good also, just make sure you bring a few thousand or more though.

    Naw the milage is not any better, but did not change as much as I expected. I assume its because I do all city driving.

    When I got my alignment last month or when ever, the guy told me;

    'It pulls slightly to the passenger side, only because of a tiny bit of tire ware. Soon as you rotate them it will drive perfectly straight'

    He was right, goes straight as an arrow now.

    Had the rig in the unicorn shop again today, the addiction is real. :cookiemonster:

    For what it's worth I think the fridge option might actually save weight.
    You're not carrying the useless weight of ice packs and ice in general for that matter.

    It could just be your fridge that I'm not accounting for but my ARB is maybe 10lbs heavier than my cooler is empty. When you add all the weight from carrying ice packs it might still be lighter but it's wasted weight if you get what I'm saying.

    But then no need to worry about battery being drained, it's a trade.

    It’s a option based on what you think you need. For me being on the road for a month, the savings that I have had not buying ice has made it worth it for me. Additionally, the cost of a decent cooler was about the price of my fridge.

    @Norilsk makes a good point about the additional battery. It’s a commitment going with a fridge.

    Just like everything, pros and cons....

    Just make sure you run truck every-other day for battery to recharge, that's what I did when I had a fridge in. Stock battery allows to run fridge for 2 days without any problems.

    And if you need a battery cage for a bigger battery, let me know I got that one for sale.

    Make sure. I had a huge battery pack that was just off the charger not be able to boost a vehicle. The batteries condition could have had something to do with it, but nonetheless.

    yep I have used mine a few times, I am going to get a new one this summer some time. I bought the cheapest one i could find on Amazon just to see how good it could be.

    I am totally sold on them, worked for 2 weeks for me while I tried to 'fix' my battery I killed with stupidity. Started the truck sometimes 8 times a day with it.
