Tried painting my front emblem. 2 types of paint, re-doing it 4 times, still not coming out even close to good. No bubbles, but uneven coats. I'm getting very small indentions. Don't know why, as bare surface is smooth.

2 options... Buy a front emblem from someone already painted black... Find a 2nd grill and have someone satoshi for me.

Location says Hawaii, might be the humidity.

Are you cleaning the emblem with rubbing alcohol or some type of cleaner first?
After it's cleaned, try lay down several light coats and build it up allowing each coat to dry.

Make sure it's cleaned real good before re-spraying. The different types of paint might interact poorly.

Another reason you'll see indentions is it's too thick and the paint is out-gassing.

It's tough to troubleshoot a paint problem from another state, over the net, no pictures, etc.

Good luck (I'm originally from Kailua, Oahu)

Yes.. Not cold... Hawaii... Any other ideas? Anyone have a black emblem they want to "pay itm forward"

i'm in hawaii too and i have had problems painting also. paint on a clear hot day, when its not raining. for the emblems, paint them and stick um in the oven right away, and don't let the wind get to them on the way. for my satoshi, i made sure the area was clean and i used alcohol to wipe the area, then painted very light coats at a time in my small sealed laundry room.

yea, i'd say paint it indoors, like in a garage, and place it under a large lamp, but not too close or it will over bake the paint.

My obsessive nature, went to wal-mart for some sandpaper and a can of krylon plastic paint... 5 coats later... Awesome.. Possibly some new confidence to paint my badges now.. Maybe even satoshi (one day)
