PROBLEM 2008 5 speed auto tranny

Ok. About 5 weeks ago my truck would stall when moving the shifter from P to D or D to R . Thru a P0705 code . Gear selection sensor of some sort . Replaced that ,no more stalling . About a day or 2 later the trans now hesitates for a count of 5 seconds when moving shifter from P into D . It doesn’t slam into gear but it goes in a little harder than normal. Been driving it for a few weeks like that and my Toyota tech says probably low on fluid but they couldn’t check the level at that time and they don’t do flushes .No apparent leaks anywhere .So I drive it to a different dealer who does do flushes and they flush it but do not drop the pan ,clean or check magnets or replace strainer filter . Plus I did not tell them about the issue of hesitation just to see if they say anything . Long story short ,I still have the hesitation when moving shifter from P to D. So I know now that it’s not low on trans fluid . Has anyone had this issue or have a degree in auto trans repair . I’m just guessing but maybe the sensor that was replaced was bad out of the box . But my stalling issue went away so ? Part of the P0705 code mentioned a wiring harness could be corroded but my mechanic checked it and said it looked pristine .I am at a loss here ..... maybe a selonoid of some sort in the tranny ,IDK . There are no codes being thrown so ? Truck is V6 , with 106000 miles and has a Hayden HP trans cooler installed at 64000 miles . Been towing a Ultra light camper a total of about 1500 miles out of that 106000.So really not a lot of towing at all ! Truck never beat on . Always serviced on time .Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks

 

Forgot to mention that other than the above ^ the transmission seems fine

I must be the only one in the world with this problem.

 

In another recent thread, it was mentioned that the flush machine only puts in the same amount of fluid that was taken out. So if you were low on fluid, you would still be low after the flush.

The only way to know for sure, is to have the actual fluid level checked.

 

Wow ,you would think that the dealer would check the level after the flush and check for leaks in the system . Thanks for the response !

 

Monday bump!

 

Drop the pan and replace the filter and clean the magnets. It's not hard to do. Put some Lubegard in when you refill. That may help.

 

Picked up some Lubegard . I told the dealer after they flushed my system this problem started so going back Thursday and they are checking fluid level. Still these dealers say no need to drop pan ! WTF Guy said I don’t think there is even a part number for a filter ,it’s not removable. So they can check the fluid level And I will make them pay for a pan drop and filter at a dif shop . These friggen dealerships are something else

Yea ,this boy ain’t attempting that ! Your talking to the mechanically challenged right here . If changing my lawn mower oil goes smooth I am proud of myself I will gladly pay someone else to do it !

 

Called dealer that did flush ,told him of issue . Going back Thursday so they can check trans fluid level . I am going to show him the YouTube video on dropping pan and changing filter too !

 

Transmission fluid level is good , they had the drive shaft out of truck ,shaft and u joints good . Toyota can not figure it out

 

Waiting to hear from them this morning . If they won’t drop pan and change filter I will pick it up and bring it to my mechanic who will . And add some Lubegard

 

No code being thrown since the gear selection sensor was replaced .

 

Damn dealerships can be annoying at times.

 

Did the dealer determine that the AT fluid level was good using Techstream, or did they use the fill plug method similar to the procedure on the 3rd gens?:
