1300 mile trip... Best way to protect front end?

Wasn't sure where to post this so mods move it if u like. Anyways I'm going from pa to sc and back this summer. It's about 1300 miles total. I made this trip bout two years ago with my 06 and between the thousands of bugs and highway debris it reeked havoc on my front end. I'm trying my best the keep this from happening on my 2010. I'd really like to invest in a professional clear bra install but I dont have the funds to do it before hand. I'm curious if there was another way of trying to protect the front end for the trip? I saw a cheap generic clear bra kit for less the 40 bucks I was thinking of installing just for the trip but I don't wanna ruin my paint with crap either what do u guys suggest does this kit look good for a temp fix?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyo...rQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_4790wt_948

 

Painters tape?

 

Drive very slow. lol. Or get a rental. jk. I know what you're saying, I drove from VA to CA and got so many bugs. I did however have a bug deflector up front and it seemed to work good.

It will we did our own version of a gum ball run not to long ago and I did it to my WRX and all my buddies did it to theres cars from Vettes to Civics and it worked just fine on all of them.

 

See I'd be willing to do that painters tape just for the ride down and up. I even thought of getting some kind of soft mesh like fabric and creating like a screen of sorts but not sure if that's even legal . But painters tapes a good idea if it would hold up. I'm guessing that wouldn't hurt it

Wow don't know if I'd cover that much on mine lol. But great idea. I'd imagine you'd have to use some high quality brand tape to ensure it stick well enough (I have some dollar store crap here that doesn't even stick to a wall )

 

I just drove pulling my bike on a trailer, 2100 miles from se ga to prescott az.. I can tell you every fill up I was washing the front end and glass and applying some spray on detailers wax. The front end took a little but im sure it would have been worse if I had not washed off and applyed the wax.
Just my 2 cents.

Interesting, I'm impressed with the liberal use of tape! I've made the trip from NY to SC and back several times, and am making a trip from SC to fl and back soon. I've had my truck for several years now, and the front end doesn't have any more than what I consider normal wear and tear, a few chips, etc here and there, but nothing I can't live with. I guess I've been lucky! Worse I had was a window chip I got fixed. Knock on wood now since I said something!

 

See I think my main concern is for me is I really want to get the clear bra system professionally installed so I'm trying to keep my front as chip free as possible til then but I won't be able to get it done til after vacation. Ha anyone gotten the 3m clear bra done? I'm guessing it would cost around maybe what 400-500 right?

2nd. I've already driven cross country and nj>sc and I'm not seeing any signs of abnormal wear and tear. I dont think you have much to worry about honestly. But yes, painters tape does work well as mentioned. I did it on a trip from nj>nh after my last car was freshly painted and it held up well. And of course, as also mentioned, a clear bra will also help things out, but at a much higher cost than 2.99 a roll

 

I just made a trip from the DC metro area to Orlando, FL. I think total was about 1700 miles round trip and the whole front of my truck is covered with bug guts and probably little tar splatters from road work in Georgia. I95 in Georgia around Savannah sucks. It'll be a long wash this weekend.

 

What, you think that "R" in the transmission is for looks only?

 

Just some food for thought..Since you want to protect your front end, how about you drive in Reverse?
On a more serious note, the blue tape seems the way to go.
