Replacing with Subaru Outback?

After living with the ‘17 3rd gen for over a year, I am beginning to realize that this vehicle really is an ideal second vehicle. So... I am thinking of replacing it with Outback and get a 1st or 2nd gen as a recreational/utility use vehicle. Has anyone gone from 3rd gen to Outlook or have it as a daily driver? Would love to hear feedback about the car.

 

Subaru makes damn good cars. The outback is plenty roomy and with a roof rack will haul all the gear you need.

I have a 2015 legacy which is essentially the outback from the b pillar forward. That’s my daily driver and I love it. It’s so god damn comfortable, and eye sight is a must. Seriously, it’s amazing for adaptive cruise control alone. I also have a 2005 Tacoma as my fun truck. It really is an ideal situation.

 

Subaru offers a superior value compared to a Toyota delivering a better fit, finish, higher grade materials and build quality for the money.

 

Any chance of keeping your current Tacoma, and getting the Outback also?

 

I have thought about it myself after my girlfriend bought a subaru impeza premium. They are NICE cars.
I wish subaru made a truck.
My truck drives great. I just dislike having to always hit ect to get it to drive like it was supposed to.

 

Nice twighlight blue legacy. My wife and I test drove one and it drove beautifully & super quiet with low road noise.

 

Subarus are good cars, and have only gotten better. They do have their own quirks, just like any other brand.

It is worth pointing out that Toyota owns 16.5% of Subaru. The BRZ/86 is a joint collaboration, and you will find that other models share some components as well.

 

You DO know that a large portion of Subaru is owned by Toyota don’t you?

 

i will support subarus all day. They are very good value and excellent driving cars. get a manual for sure. '08 forester xt is the sleeper in the entire line up - it's the last year of the impreza chassis on the larger cargo space of the forester. Legit.

 

Hmm... perhaps leasing a Subaru may be an option.

 

I was reading something that Subaru was cancelling Manuals across the board after this year, that sucks to see.

 

What I like about Subaru, is that they are fully made in Japan, and imported here.

Not true. While MOST (75%) of Subarus are made in Japan, they do have a plant in the US, their plant in Indiana built Toyota Camrys from 2007-2016 to help meet production of that model for the US market.

Have some friends with an Outback just a year or two old. Nice vehicle.

I was surprised to find it was a good bit longer than my '04 Highlander.

 

Too bad, they are one of the few companies with manual options for just about their whole lineup. Was sad to see them phasing it out of the outback, but the crosstrek in manual is a fun little car in its own.
