34’s or 35’s?

I just put (33s) 285/70/17 about a week ago and im already thinking about 35s in the future

 

How heavy are those E rated Ko2’s? The cooper STT Pros I’m getting weight 66lbs a piece. My 10ply st maxx I run currently weigh 58lbs a piece.

Listen to your friends play it safe do the 34's. Not sure how much OFF roading you do and what your daily ON road commute is but 35's from what I'm gathering might be a bit much for you... even though they would look bad ass. 34's will be a great all around especially in Texas where you don't see much snow accumulation. Typically you want to run skinnies in places that see snow because, they help you cut & find traction better. In Texas however, I'm assuming your trails would require a wider tire over a skinner tire to grab the type of terrain you have there.

 

Man those are heavy but if I recall those are MTs? Mine are only 60 lbs so I'll stop complaining lol. My brother ran 37" Cooper STT on his tundra and they wore smooth in 20k miles faster than even Nittos.

I went from 255/85s to 315/75s. Can definitely notice the weight. I think i have similar armor..

Spot on. Decided to go with the 34’s at least until I regear in August. From what I read most guys were saying it was bareable, but I drive 80miles round trip everyday for my commute so I don’t want my truck to feel like a dog yet. Technically got a 33.5 not a true 34. I believe the only 2 options were the cooper st maxx and nitto trail grapplers that offered a true 34. Going bigger is all about compromise. I want to have the proper setup first though. Thanks everyone for their input.

 

You guys that are getting the 315’s to fit your Taco, what is the secret?

Did an aggressive CMC, beat the pinch weld and trimmed the inner plastic fender well. Still rubbing at full lock. Probably going to have to settle for 285/75’s.

Wheel specs play a big role. You want the minimum width and offset to clear the UCA. Any extra and that’s just more work for yourself as the tire is pushed further into the firewall.

Rubbing on the cab mount at full lock. The tires are a Toyo M/T 315/70/17 with a -10 offset.

 

If you want to keep 315s then you pretty much have to cut the cab mount back more. One option is the insain CMC, or you could do the red goat fab (I think) and just move the cab mount back a few inches. Then you just never need to worry about it again.

 

Drastic measures may be required.

 

Did you have your alignment pushed as far forward as possible?

 

I have not done an alignment yet. Was just Test fitting at this point. But that is a good point.

I will have some rubbing on the inner plastic at full stuff. Cranked up the King’s another 1” beyond what they came out of the box, about 1-1/2” total of threads.

 

Go get your alignment and report back. As far as the inner plastic at full stuff it will rub. I ripped mine out and I rub the metal inner fenderwell.
