Here is a pic of the boys playing, Tank loves it when Chubby actually chases him around and wrestles with him which isn't very often.

See that lump under Chubs collar...that's a fatty tumor that is about the size of a soccer ball now, it was about a softball size 4 months ago.
My Vet said he couldn't operate on it, but now it's affecting his breathing and eating. This new Vet thinks they can at least reduce the size of it to help him if not remove it all, he will know more once he gets inside.
I've been trying to help it with holistic meds and diet, but it isn't working :(.

If it's a fatty tumor on Chubs do they feel it is attached to his airway? Just an idea but have you thought about contacting a pharmacy college and see what is available medicinally? I saw a vet in Tulsa Okla that was a pharmacist before going to vet school and that guy gave me some stuff to fight cancer ($75 a pill--I got 4 pills for a poodle and gave him half at each application)

Suggest you might try that avenue as well. How old is Chubs...he doesn't look that old? Also did you get a good look at Tanks teeth. I'm just wondering where the infection came from and the teeth are the only thing I can think of---reading what you write about your kids - there is no doubt in my mind you go over the kids with a fine tooth comb and if you can't find any cuts, abrasions etc that would leave the mouth for something wrong. I wonder if his shots could cause the high numbers? Please keep all of us posted....kiss the kids for me.....

Thanks, I'll post up what he says on Monday night.

Chubby is about 11yrs old and the Vet was surprised, thought he was younger. I got him in 2001 and he was almost full grown then so he is around 10-11 this year. The 1st Vet and 2nd Vet said they couldn't do anything for him, no meds or surgery . I looked up some natural options to try and help it from growing, but it's growing fast now so they didn't help. The Vet we are seeing now is going to take a look at him Monday and see what he thinks, I'm sure he will decide to try and remove some of it, but has to see what it looks like inside. He thinks it is pushing on his airway, when Chubs rolls onto his back he chokes/gags. He is panting a lot and having trouble on walks. He thinks there are probably major blood vessels running through it which is the primary concern and the reason the other Vets wouldn't operate. Do you think you could find out what those meds were? It isn't actually cancerous though, so maybe that's why they didn't give meds.

Yup, Tank is pretty good about letting me poke around in his mouth and his teeth are fine. They checked his teeth before the 1st blood tests to see if he had any baby teeth left, he has 1 they will remove.
I checked the toxicity of all the plants around the yard in case he ingested those, but he is good about leaving the plants alone and they all would have at least caused an upset stomach/vomiting etc which he hasn't ever had. He's never chewed on anything he isn't supposed to anyway.
He had his last shots 4 months ago, so I'd think if he'd had a reaction to them it would have gone away by now.
He may have picked up a 'cold' at the dog park, Vet says sometimes some dogs just have reactions and other don't, just like people.
Thanks for the ideas and thoughts, it helps a lot. :D

LMAO! He looks so sad in the first photo's but as you scroll down he be starts looking happier. And the last photo sitting in a babe's lap. (I hope it's not you wearing a bra---the strap was obvious) he looks like he is beginning to realize he is "top dog!" Looks like a good truck dog now that he's learning how to stick his nose out out of the window.....:p

    Thank you, thank you :D

Chubby goes in for tumor removal on the 27th, Vet says he will see what he can do and if it's too invasive then there is a specialty center in town to go to...but he wants to make the effort himself and it saves me some major $$. He removed a 9lb invasive one from a dogs leg today, but the concern is the major arteries in the neck for Chubby. He seems pretty confident he can do it though :).
Oh and Chubs has gained about 15lbs since Jan. he needs to lose it, but I wonder how much of it is that tumor .
Tank should be good for neuter on the same day, so they will recover together. I've gotten him to gain a little weight this week, so that is good.
I like this Vet more every time I go there and both my dogs approve of him also.

Chubby had a biopsy done back in January and had stitches on his chest/neck area, when he came home Tank was so excited to see him and immediately found the wound area and started licking it to make it feel better :). Chubs was still a bit groggy and Tank wouldn't leave his side all night.
I'm sure they will support each other, but of course they will have my undivided attention also. I just got a new box of chews in the mail to spoil them with while they recover .

Thanks :D We are all prepared, just counting down the days.
