That's pretty crazy but it was the first decent weekend we have had here. I am saving up to get my stuff powder coated and then I really want sliders and a skid plate, trying to avoid any unnecessary trail damage lol. Was it pretty muddy out on the trails then?

You aint going to do it yourself? Everything but the alignment is doable in a weekend, well if you don't break anything, I'd break things.

You should just swap me intakes lol, I hate having the deckplate mod.

Why do you hate the deck plate mod? I'm new to it and have only heard good things so far

Not really I didn't go saw the aftermath in attica. Barely any mud on them. I could do the timing belt and all but I don't have the proper tools yet. I just need to get him antifreeze. I save Abit of money supplying the parts for him. He would get me the parts but he'll buy the cheapest stuff. He does awesome work just as long as you supply him the parts.

The stock intake is already a cold air intake. The deck plate mod makes it a hit air intake and louder..that's it.

Well I mean if you do it right it would be clean and look like it's supposed to be there not all cut up. But other than that I've read about small HP/MPG gains since you're getting more air into the box. I'm open to suggestions though this is just stuff I have heard from deckplate threads. Any major reason against it?

None of those gains are substantial enough to out weigh making your $18 air filter dirty 20k earlier than usual

Yeah that makes sense I get how the stock air box is a cold air intake but does that just mean all the dudes who say it helped with power and mpg are just mislead?

They don’t do anything from what I understand. You might see some changes at first but the computer adjusta or something and it doesn’t really do anything.

Kind of. I mean there used to be dyno tests showing it helped gain like 5hp or something small like that.

It really isn't worth though. I'd pass...i have it. And it's biggest contribution for me is allowing my motor to breath at all as the tube is plugged with mud mostly.

I have to constantly buy new filters and there is no real gain.

I am going to the junkyard on Tuesday to see if they have one still on a Tacoma but if they don't I may contact you about one.

Good stuff. At least you can supply your own parts, most don't seem to want to allow you to do that.

ok, I'm going to dredge up some old posts; sorry, that's what happens when I'm disconnected for a while :p
So, I forget - does Igor have stock gears, and have you replaced your speedo gear? Just curious if the 18 is accurate or a lie :boink:. I used to think I was getting 18 with my 31's, until I realized that my ODO was giving me ~7% higher mileage (and thus higher mpgs) than I thought...
...though, if I can fix this P0171 and get something like 17-18 - I'll be loving it!
    @Digiratus
These are definitely built-in OBDII PIDS - I was able to read them with DashCommand (essentially an Android-based SG) - that's how I got the numbers for my P0171 a few days ago.
I think you ended up not worrying about this, but - don't worry. I've got the same situation - and smelled it on my last trip to the Maze, and just a couple days ago in DV. Overfilling can cause this, and after some leaks out, it won't be overfull anymore :). Does stink like gear oil for a while though while it's seeping out the breather.
Also - one thing - with a diff drop, you should overfill a bit, to ensure that you'll have enough oil on the pinion - that was something the shop specifically mentioned to me when they installed my gears.
...I heard it was sagging a bit anyway... :anonymous: :luvya: :luvya:
Super jealous - I just drove ~40 hours (down and back) to DV for 2 1/2 days of adventure, to escape the rain and glum of the Puget Sound. I returned today, to heavy rain from Grants Pass, OR north. :annoyed:
Should have joined. Highs were in the 80's - it was perfect, windows-down weather! Oh, and I had that minor problem you could have taken a look at... :anonymous: hahahaha!
Plumas County isn't all that far from the Bay, and has some beautiful trails...
You may have mentioned this a few days ago, but I was (definitely not) driving at the time so didn't catch where the leak ended up being. I haven't found mine yet...so I have to go looking...
Can't a guy get caught up? Trip was awesome, truck was a champ - though, I was way more stressed every time I looked down to check the fuel level and noticed "oh shit, engine light's on...oh, right"

Tomorrow is going to be a combination of:
    1. no driving, I've had enough of that - ~2400 miles round trip
    2. photo processing - 900 pics
    3. P0171 research. grrrrrrrr. Want to come up for a visit Zane? You know you'd rather be here. :D

I’m running a CAI only because I got a steal of a deal on it. Honestly, I think I lost power switching from box to CAI. Maybe I’m trippin but i swear I lost acceleration power. But the CAI certainly sounds more aggressive along with the flowmaster.

Yeah bro it's like stickers, each one adds about 20 or so horsepower. Or like my chinese AC knobs each one added 50 horses I swear.

Red paint does the same thing. It’s scientifically proven to add HP. But you don’t need me to tell you that. Your truck is red!
