Finally a good day on the beach and it’s just getting started. Me and two other friends fished for 2 hours. Kept these and released a bunch more.

There are like 5 pics in that post. It’s an Instagram post, so you’ll have to scroll through them. If you’re on your phone there should be an arrow.

50-60 hours of fishing over the past three days and very little sleep and I finally accomplished what I’ve been trying to do for 4 years. I’ve caught countless drum from the piers over the past 12 years but never once have I landed one from the sand. It was a last ditch effort to get this fish after having 4 people tell me I should stay and fish. Tired as hell and knowing I have to work this morning in less than an hour, but I stayed. And anyone who knows the point should be familiar with the term “combat fishing. I was amongst 100 people with waves crashing and soaking all of us and our trucks. I watched 50-60 fish get caught lastnight, most of which were 40+ inches. Lines getting tangled, fish getting busted off and with every wave that crashed, sand and salt water was shooting into your face and reel. But I payed off for me and 2 other buddies lastnight and we ended up getting our first paper fish from the sand. Been a hell of a weekend with little sleep, but it was all worth it. Here are a few pictures from my adventure the past 3 days.

A little off topic but I’d love to get your insights on cooking squirrels (I’ve seen you post that you hunt them b4)

I only ask because I’ve been super impressed by your fish dishes in the past :)

There are few ways to cook squirrels
    Deep fry
    BBQ
    Bake
    Stew
Whichever ways you prefer it’s always turn out good squirrel taste best seasoning with sea salt

We usually braise them then fry in flour and serve with biscuits and squirrel gravy. My wife’s family sometimes cracks the skull and eats the brains lol. Not me :) especially because the ones I kill are usually headless after the 22 mag does it’s job

Opening day for Trout was Saturday. fished local, bout 1/2 mile from the house.
I don't usually keep any, but since Ct started a "Trout Stamp" (tax), I kept a few for dinner.
Caught 10 kept these. Note brown Fenwick and ancient Shakespere 030 reel.
