I fished Kure Beach on Friday and got skunked, about 4 hours of fishing just on a small gut I found off a public access. On Saturday a buddy and I fished the South end of Wrightsville beach where there is a inlet. We had 9 rods out for about 5 hours until the storm ran us off the beach. We caught three dogfish and a puffer. The salted shrimp caught 2 dogfish and the puffer with squid catching the 3rd dogfish. Not the best fishing, its tough fishing a new area. We did see a pod of porpoises work a bait ball for about 30 minutes, they trapped the bait between the jetty and surf. That was pretty cool to see!

Just in case someone else orders some of the rod wraps off of ebay.. the 30mm is a little snug for longer spinning rods. I have one 7ft rod that the bottom eye is so large, that the wrap will not expand enough to cover it. Overall, other than them being a little narrow, they're pretty good though. It's nice to not have to untangle rods from each other before I start fishing.

I won't be making my OBX/Hatteras trip at the end of April :bananadead: :frusty:

Had a couple issues arise. However, mid May I'll be there and probably extend the trip by a day or two.

    Nearly a 8 hour drive... I think I'll pass... haha

Apparently I missed the blue's by a week. They hit Wilmington/Kure beach/Wrightsville beach this past week/weekend hard. I saw a lot of pictures of some decent 20-30 inchers being pulled from the surf and a bunch of them!

I just googled it and it actually is only 5 hours but still...

I know that long drive all too well. Normally It takes me anywhere from 8-12 hours to get to NY. Traffic depending of course.

If you want those J cradles I still have them...:spending:

Yeah I have only had mine for about a yr. I would highly recc. getting some heavy duty springs if you plan on using the taco as your tow pig. @Blackout14 has some really nice HD springs he sells and provides a good amt. of lift as well I would recc. what I have Deavers or the Dobinsons look interesting as well.

85 was a nightmare last time I travelled from VA to SC it may have gotten better. All the construction turned a 7 hour ride into 11 hours I took 95 back without issue.
