It's funny sometimes when either you know more about the car then they do or you are just really well informed. I had saved on my phone the True Car price on his, NADA on mine, and some other similar trucks to both. Kind of helps for arguing stand point when you can show them where you are getting prices and inventory from

I like the idea of CarMax except I like to haggle haha I get dealers need to make money, so they always post a little higher then they should cause then you walk their price down and your trade up. Its just the you came in for that $35k truck and now you are saying its $39k... that game I don't play

Dealers that still do that are dying out. If you price cost up, rather than price to market, you don't make it into any searches online

must have been a boy scout cause that is def being prepared haha yeah for me its kind of the same. I do a few insurance quotes and look at what banks have for rates as well as the manufacture. In a way it should make the dealers life easy since you have all the ducks in a row

Ideally, low miles (under 30k) 2017 F-250 crew cab, short bed (6.5') 4x4 with the 6.7 diesel. I'd take the Chevy or GMC equivalents also.
Opening my mine up to an F250 gasser either new or used. If used, under 20k miles. Not looking for anything fancy, for Ford, the STX package would be fine, I just want it to have the brake controller, cloth seats, power windows, power locks and SYNC (remote start and the rear sliding window would be a nice bonus but not needed). A lot of the really stripped ones don't even have SYNC which is a deal breaker since it seems like it's a complete PITA to try and add later.
You're at the Buick/GMC dealer, right? I think I may have been looking on your website at one point.

    Thank you also!

I had my wife with me and after she was saying she would have no idea what would have been a good deal and probably would have gotten ripped off. So I can see how the "no haggle" right at market value type dealers is becoming a thing cause ppl can look all over and just pay the same price. Makes the buyer do more research versus having a buyer be a good negotiator.

But flip side it makes it tough for ppl to fight for a deal under market

I need to find a dealership that will buy my evo... I really don't want to go through the hell of having to private party sell it then watch tire kickers want to test drive the car etc....

Makes their life a living hell, actually, because you can call them on their BS so the usual tricks don't work. Once they figure out that they can't dick you around negotiations either go pretty quickly, or they stall completely.

Cash in hand test drives helps keep some of those tires kickers away. Last few times I sold a car on CL I was pretty clear with people before they came, I expected to have the cash in my hand and see their DL and insurance before test driving it... Although I dont know what your Evo is worth... so that could be a lot of cash.

Im just a Buick Dealer for new vehicles but being GM I can get used Chevy/GMC products easily. Fords are a little harder but sometimes I can get something. PM me if you want me to send an email out to my buyers and they can tell me whats out there.

Definitely. You can't go in and just say you want a lower price just because, some lady near me was doing that when I bought my taco and the salesman got fed up real quick lol. Buying the Tacoma was actually the easiest experience I have had to date. I went in with numbers I wanted based on some research, they got within 1k and I was out in under 2 hours with everything signed.

It has to be tough to be a good dealer now though. With the internet, everybody has to have a fair price or people just won't go there but then when it is fair people show up and want ridiculous discounts that are not available.

yeah very true. I get its a business and they need to make money so they try to squeeze max profits out of everything. Not sure if they bought and sold for market prices their margins may not be huge but they sell more inventory and stuff isn't sitting on the lot for months.

Its nice when they have the Carfax link and you can see like this truck sat on their lot for almost 2 months. And when they sold it 7 months ago it was on their lot for 5 months

If you end up with one without remote start, I'll sell you mine for $75. Plugs into the back of the OBDII and runs right off the factory remote.

I was going to start it at 15k which is average for all the other evo's for sale without the harder to find stuff I have on the car.

yeah its nice when the dealer is easy to work with and reasonable. Whole thing can be over in a hour or so. I try to be reasonable when I go, it sucks when the numbers are so far off I look like the unreasonable one even though they were gouging the heck out of it both ways. Can tell that some dealers are more just geared to doing easy leases and offloading the used inventory somewhere else

Ya I hear you on that. Just have to walk away sometime, especially when you know that is what they are doing.

Hm.. with my WRX I walked in with a number and cash on hand and an options list. They bent over for me on it no problems and threw in a few goodies. The truck - I walked in took it for a test drive and told them I wasn't touching anything over a certain price after tax and they eventually took it when I walked out and drove to the dealership next door (which has a shitty red colored one but similar mileage and age)

Thanks, realistically, I'm about a month or 2 out from being a serious truck shopper. I'm sort of being a tire kicker with the dealerships now, test driving, finding out which options I like or don't want. If the right deal jumps up, I'll bite but I'm not in a hurry to trade. I think in a month or 2, I'll be actively harassing dealers to find something specific and have them reach out to their buyers. At the moment, I'm not quite there yet. Next month, I very well may take you up on your offer, things at work will slow down for me and I'll have some time to actually truck shop. I appreciate the help!
What drives me nuts about the internet shopping is the asterisk next to their advertised price. Lots of times, it includes rebates and discounts you can't possible qualify for. You'd have to be a veteran, school teacher, new grad and somehow leasing and buying at the same time. It's great that you're showing a price $10k under MSRP but no one on this planet can qualify for all of the discounts so it's very misleading.
