Have you done your rear shock relocation yet or are you still running the 10" Billies? My 10" 5125s (stock configuration) are blown, I'm running AP Expos too so it's time to upgrade. Looking for ideas. Thanks.

Funny how I was asking you this last night and you were talking about it earlier in the day.

Just did some rough measurements last night and I think I need at least 2 more inches for the bumps and an inch forward so the line up with the frame stops.

Dug up a picture. Somewhere I have notes on my measurements for this, but think I offset it an inch or an inch and half forward to hit the strike plate right.

Does the axle move back much when then spring is compressed? I likely won't be able compress mine to bump to see how it lines up.

So it's offset but you have no issues running it straight to the carrier bearing like stock? No vibes either? Did you have the drive shaft lengthened?

Everything else on my truck is bent or broken, but the strike pads look good. :notsure:

Yes, back at bump, forward at droop. Could probably get a rough measurement just by measuring the arc of the shackles.

Don't let the offset scare you, I have been running one for a few years now with no real issues. Stock driveshaft bolted right up, you either need a new flange on the axle end or swap in a yoke off the tcase end of a tacoma rear shaft to get the bolt pattern to match up. Brakes work great with the stock master cylinder as well.

No issues for me. I did set the pinion about a half degree out on the low side so when the axle wrapped it wouldn't be as far out. I didn't have to do a thing to the drive shaft. I pulled the pinion flange from my e locker and swapped it to my 9.5. My truck has lots of various vibes, but nothing I can attribute directly to the swap. My brake pedal feels pretty much stock too. When I put the fj80 front in and go to tundra brakes I am going to swap to the T100 1"1/16 master cylinder though.

Got my axle shafts swapped finally. Made some rookie mistakes so it took longer than it should have, but the 4340s are in. Just have to adjust and bleed the brakes and fill the diff. I’ll have some pics tomorrow.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how it rides minus the bent axle wobble, and to moving on to other shit.

Didn’t end up taking many pictures, but here are a few. I included the part numbers for the 4340 shafts and the early 1st Gen bearings. Ended up getting the inner retainers lined up almost perfectly over the seal, so hopefully that helps keep the gear oil where it’s supposed to be.

Drove it about thirty miles tonight and the wobble is completely gone. Now it’s time to swap my ac tensioner pulley and slap a new bearing in the old one as a spare. It’s squealing pretty bad.

Yeah it is! I’m pretty lucky with the condition of this truck.

I did find some other worrisome shit while I was working on the axle swap, though. More on that later...

I was thinking the same thing! The entire outer ring rusted and fell off mine and then bent when I was changing the rear bearing lol!! So jelous of the dry climate!!

After @TMFF was kind enough to swap my coils from 600s to 650s, I finally got a chance to hit up RSG Offroad for an alignment.

Joel was awesome as usual, and was able to get me pretty decent numbers. I was willing to accept a bit of negative camber to get a bit more caster out of the LCAs.

Damn nice to have a truck that tracks straight ahead with a centered wheel. Feels super planted in the turns too. I also got my ride height back along with a better balance of bump and droop travel. The 600s just couldn’t handle my fat ass.

You are going to have tire wear issues with those numbers. That much negative camber is not good on these suspensions. You'll actually have scrub issues turning. Look for accelerated inner edge tire wear.
