Lift help, Almost there!

Alright guys I got some questions here and I know they probably have been asked so sorry in advance. I think I got most sorted out so just need some varification

Got a 3rd gen Tacoma. Looking to lift like 2 1/2"

Upfront: Bilstein 5100 set at 0 with OME 887( second gen gives 3", third gen 2 - 2 1/2?)

Rear: Add a leaf. not sure on a brand yet. I want to keep a bit of rake to it. Any recommendations? Should I choose a progressive add a leaf instead?

Tires: General Tire ATX. I wanted 275 but heard a good chance of rubbing if you go over 265.
so now I'm at 265/70/18. Will this work? Tire calculator says it will be 32.6"

As for when I choose rims, what offset and backspacing should I look for?

Really appreciate any help I can get on this.

Looks like you have the lift all picked out. As far as the rear leafs are concerned; I would go with the 3 leaf progressive AAL vs the single AAL. You will get a better ride quality. A full leaf pack replacement will get you an even better ride quality. Although ride quality is going to be subjective from person to person.

With the tires, there are so many to choose from, and all are not created equal. Your backspacing and offset of the wheel as well as the width and aggressiveness of the tire will all come into play. I would suggest looking at a wheel that has 4.5" backspacing and 0 offset. That combo should put you in a good spot without rubbing or needing to trim plastic or CMC (Cab Mount Chop) especially with that tire size.

ok yeah the offset and backspacing i'm totally lost. a place told me anywhere between 0 - -12

 

The progressive will not necessarily give you more lift than a single, you should get between 1 1/2" - 2" with either the progressive or the single. The progressive will give you a better ride. A single would be good if you have a lot of weight in the back.

Make sure that the tire you do select will fit on the wheel that you want to use. Look at the tire manufacturers website to get the specs of the tire and the wheel width recommended for that particular size.





On a 18 x 9 wheel, 4.5 backspacing would be around -12 offset. See the chart below:

I plan on this exact same set up. My question about the progressive AAL is weather you leave the overload leaf in or not. Leaving it in will give you that 2" lift but will it make the ride quality worse than taking the overload out and settling for 1.5"? Is there any mechanical concerns to leaving it in?

 

No mechanical concerns. The overload is just that, the ability to handle more weight in the back, and maintain "ride quality" with a heavy or constant load. Some leave it in and can't tell it's back there. The ride is going to be subjective for each driver. I have used an AAL with the overload left in on different vehicles in the past, and could not tell it was there; the ride was fine for me.

It's up to you. Read @scottsglock29 post above. Progressive for a nice ride. Single if you're loading up the back.

 

Kings and TC UCAs up front and single AAL/Kings in back. I set front to level to the back.

Nice I'm looking to do the same just with a toytec kit most likely What tire size are you running and how much lift did you achieve over stock

 

I went with 275/17 KO2s and I think I'm at 3" over stock.

Have you taken it off road yet? If so any rubbing? I'm looking at the same exact kit but want to make sure I'm good for no rubbing off road. Also do you have the adjusters and if so is that how you leveled front to match back?
