So I’m making bacon cheese burgers for the family tonight and thought of a new term...

    “Interrogated Onions”

Onions that have been made to sweat, not brown, in bacon grease.

So I’ve been thinking of the idea of buying like a Honda or some sort of Toyota to rent out on Turo and see if I can make some money. Thoughts ?

I'd be a little dubious as far as the payoff... Looking at their site for just a random example, a 2013 Camry is $42 a day.

You're not going to pocket all $42, I would be willing to bet you would see more like $20 or less. They want you to take their liability insurance, or you can provide your own for a bigger cut, let's say $30... so yeah I guess 9-10 rental days a month would cover a pretty reasonable car payment of $300 if you roll your own liability plan, but that's your break even shot provided some dingleberry doesn't up and roll it on the 101. That's also assuming you (and Turo) can scare up the demand...

Just dumping cash equity into a car to rent out would be a big sink for the first year or two. Probably a bad idea trying to buy a car outright for such a purpose, as a $3,000 Civic is probably going to be rock bottom in demand for rental.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea overall, I'm just saying I'd like to see the financing options on a car to rent out, and see some reasonable data on what Turo's demand and actual return on rental is.

Just an idea but I would be buying something no more than 4 ish which puts me in the 2008-2009 corrolla range. I’ve read good things about people’s cars getting paid from insurance (Liberty mutual). If it didn’t work I would just resell the car which shouldn’t really be hard to do because who doesn’t have the money to buy a 3-4k Corolla. I have also seen on the forums on people getting easily 3-800 a month off their low end cars.

Spent the day in the garage. :headbang:

Installed OME, Dakars in the back and brought the Bilstein 5100 snap rings up to th .85" position on the front.

While I was in there, I made some axles for my RTIC 65 and mocked them up with river straps. Long term I will finish the axle frame with more 80/20 T-slotted aluminum. Rode my cooler down my driveway and let my daughter ride it for about 20 minutes. :p

Anyone else want to order anything from my bud Eddy at SOS Concepts? Got a 10% off code and maybe we can consolidate shipping to save money. I want to place an order by Friday. Current lead time is approximately 10 weeks. Maybe if there’s enough interest, maybe a bigger discount.
