I'm about to pull the trigger on bed racks and a RTT. Before I do I wanted to know if I should upgrade my leafs? I don't want my truck leaning when I have the RTT all mounted up. It's currently on King 2.5's with R/R's. What should I get?

How much does the RTT weigh?

I calculated the rear end drop on my truck by placing large ice chests and 5 gallon buckets in the bed and filling them with water.

The drop was about 1/2 (.5) inch for every 200 pounds added.

I think it was at about 660 pounds and the drop was about 1 3/4 inches.

When I put my tent on with my Dakar leaf pack it sat pretty well even to fronts with ome bp-51. But as soon as I put weight in the back to camp it sagged, so ended up adding one more Dakar AAL. That solved the sag issue with weight and honestly I feel like it's at a better height/stance this way. Plus the rear is less bouncy and squirly.

Jeez, you used 80+ gallons of water for an experiment? Aren't you guys in a drought still?

Yes, get the Dakar HD for rake which will compensate for the RTT and gear. Here is a pic of my truck on Kings without RTT:

That picture alone cinched it! My back end isnt as heavy even though I have a cap and a cabrack with a rooftop RTT, and sometimes put a Honda Trail 90 in back with a single Dakar AAL. Your rig looks like it handles the wxtra rear weight very well.

After a wheelers 3 leaf AAL ... cheap temporary fix until I decide on full suspension but I am finding Dakar’s are the way to go.

I prefer a custom set of Deavers, but any way you go will be happier if you beef it up.

Can anyone compare putting on an AAL vs. a Hellwig helper spring? I dont need a full suspension upgrade just yet, but i do have some help in the back end. I have a Deck already installed and a camper shell being installed any day now and i want at least level, but a slight rake would be even better.

    Thanks!

It rains about 300 days a year in these parts of the Pacific Northwest!

Rain and snow are plentiful, the nearby giant Columbia River flows out to the Pacific Ocean all year long while our domestic water comes from a mountain reservoir.

Moss and mildew grows on sidewalks, driveways and patios which require once a year pressure washing! Killing moss on roofs is a constant battle.

I do try to conserve water and did a natural landscape for the yard in our newer house and sold the lawnmower.
Over 45 years of mowing was enough for me.

Now I can just leave on vacation at any time and not think about the lawn.

Grass uses too much water during hot summers.
    Now I just pull weeds.

Yesterday: 894 pounds of mulch and bark dust in the bed. Gas tank close to empty. Rear end drop 2 inches.

    Roses from last summer.
