Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

My new file was .bin for a 2018 ECU.

bin / hex all just depends on how I save the file. it doesn't change anything about it.

 

Toyota did really drop the ball(knowingly or not)on this motor tranny combo. Super lazy and sloppy. Short of FI not much can fix this. I don’t care for horsepower I want torque where it belongs.
Tune is great, it did what it was designed to do, but the fact remains that Toyota screwed up.
Toyota, you guys screwed up. Tacoma deserves better than this.

That’s true, but they took a wrong direction when developing this truck. Besides the tech, it really isn’t an upgrade.
I mean I’m keeping it. Some day I hope I learn to like it or at least till the kids outgrow it's

 

I feel yah though. Everyday i wish i had just invested more money and bought a hellcat or somthing(to late now). Buyers remorse.

 

stupid question, but if i install the OV tune, would re-gearing to 4.88 mess anything up since the tune is for stock gearing?

 

Ovtune will be offering custom tunes to help those out with issues such as re gearing and bigger tires. But until then you could still use the tune

 

maybe it's just me but I think this truck is a blast to drive when it's not on pavement.

The truck is very fun to drive! Easy to handle. Light weight. 4WD works perfectly!

Oh I agree. They seem to have discovered there were issues and then just nerfed the truck into the ground with a shit blanket tune to cover it up as much as possible, rather then continuing with R&D. Lots of people ask why they would do that, but they forget that there may have been a deadline to meet and that the Tacoma is so popular and known for dependability just from the Toyota name and people's experiences with other toyota vehicles that they knew people would buy the trucks anyway

It is, when in powerband.
On my day today day commute I just want putt along at low rpms where this motor falls on it’s face.
It’s issue of Toyota, not a guy who’s spend months making this truck suck less. I understand the limitations of altered zeroes and ones, so I’m not trying to knock the tuner.

 

This truck drives like a 600cc sportbike. Gota rev the crap out of it to get any real power :/. Maybe ovtunes power map will make me see differently.
