    Nice!

I love super duties, but I acknowledge that I don't need one and I couldn't fit one in the garage.

Knew they didn’t need a sticker but Lowe’s wouldn’t even let me leave the store with it because they said state law says it needed a plate and legally blah blah. I argued with them a bit before they decided to let me take it at my own risk.

Provided, this was in CT but the Springfield Lowe’s told me the same thing. Couldn’t take delivery until I had a valid license plate

Hmmm... doesn’t sound like something I’d say... you must be confused :anonymous:

I was sort of biding my time... then this one popped up in my email and I couldn’t look away. It’s a 2018 F250 with 4K miles on it. Price was really, really low, clean CARFAX, excellent dealer ratings and I spoke to the Owners of the dealership and they very much a no BS sort of outfit. The downside is I had to drive to Williamsburg... i’ll go back to pick it up on Saturday. Only thing it didn’t come with is diesely noises, it has the 6.2. I got it at a good enough price where, if it’s not for me, I don’t think i’ll get hurt if I trade it in a couple years.

When I helped my Mom buy her Forester the first dealer actually said sticker was what they paid for the vehicle and anything over that was their profit. I laughed in my mind but let it slide. They came in $2,000 under on trade. I said no way and they tried to counter with the “this is what the auctions are”. I got up and walked out. Blew their minds.

I bought the Tacoma via Facebook Messenger. I was a little over a barrel since it was a rarer configuration. The Jeep was just me naming an OTD price about $1,000 under my max limit. They came in $300 higher and I got them to throw in all weather mats. We needed a car as the rental time period was running out so was it bottom dollar, maybe not but I knew exactly where I needed to be.

That’s what I did with my STi. I knew I left about $2,000 on the table (they lied about the car and marked it up $5,000 over what they paid me) but it saved me from having a Ken Block flat brimmed vape bro from gymkhanaing it into a tree when boost kit.

What’s a killer deal? Ones on my list and I haven’t found the 3G setups for any reasonable price yet.

Nice! Hope the 6.2 treats you well, I think you were leaning more towards a diesel before.

I really was. Some people gave me very valid reasons to open my search to gas models. I did, still wasn’t finding much that peaked my interest until this gem popped up. It’s a really strong engine, just hope the MPGs are tolerable... I was really impressed with the 6.2 on the test drive, it was very smooth and quiet.

Gas engines have come a long way and will tow very well so there’s not as large of a disparity between diesel and gas for the weights i’ll Be towing. Sure, diesel will do better with something in tow but the new gas models are doing really well. The next is fuel issues and availability. General cost of ownership. Emissions equipment being stupidly expensive to repair if something goes wrong, same with the fuel system. Mostly reasons i’d considered, just downplayed them and completely ruled out owning a gas 3/4 ton. I’ll give this a shot and see how it goes.

    I mean… it’s a Ford, you don’t care
Trailers and vehicles are two totally different things. Plus you can actually drive a vehicle off the lot with the license plate off your old vehicle. Can drive it 7 days the only caveat is that you can no longer be in possession of the old vehicle. And you need the proof of purchase and sale!

Makes sense. I guess it comes down to fueling cost of this vs. maintenance of the diesel. I'm not informed on the matter but it sounds like you made the right choice. either way you could always trade if it doesn't suit your needs!

If you own a vehicle or trailer and purchase a new vehicle or trailer from a dealer or purchase a used vehicle or trailer from a private party, you may transfer your registration to the newly acquired vehicle. Massachusetts allows a grace period of seven (7) calendar days from the date you dispose of your previous vehicle to register your newly acquired vehicle.

Under this grace period, the following conditions must be met:

    • You must be at least 18 years old.
    • The newly acquired vehicle or trailer must be of the same type and have the same number of wheels as the previous vehicle or trailer.
    • You must carry the transfer documents, which show the registration number to be transferred, in your vehicle.
    • You must have lost possession of or disposed of your previous vehicle.
    • The registration plates must be attached to the newly acquired vehicle.
Please note, there is no grace period if you do not currently have a registered vehicle or trailer. The RMV does not issue temporary registration plates.

I did a lot of research on this, assuming all other parts of the truck are the same cost to maintain, to pay off the initial investment of a diesel is about 150k miles when you consider diesel is more expensive and oil changes are more costly as well. That’s assuming comparing 2 identical trucks, the only difference is the initial investment of about $8k for the diesel engine. I ended up buying this one a lot lower than anticipated so, even with the crappy fuel economy, it would take upwards of 200k miles for it to be a worse investment than a diesel. At least that’s what it appears to be on paper...

FWIW my father has the 6.2 in his f350 dually utility body and gets 12-13mpg with it loaded up with all kinds of stuff. My brother has a new powerstroke (6.7 maybe?) single wheel and gets a tick over 14mpg. Not really worth the price of diesel IMO.
