Does anyone know of good led bulbs that can be used in fog lights without any high glare issues?

The Hikari Phillips would be the best for reduced glare to oncoming drivers. However the throw is significantly reduced with these as fog lights. I use Aux F-16 bulbs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KYZU604 and I never get flashed and they don't seem to have a log of glare at all. Check out page 112 post #2236

Please forgive the new guy if already posted, but I have a Hikari LED question.

I replaced the low beams on the projectors and loved them so much I decided to replace the highs. The driver-side bulb is aligned perfectly (vertically), but the passenger-side is toed-in clockwise about 35-40deg. The beam pattern is different enough that it bothers me. Anyone else have this issue?

Here is the fix. Remove the 2 little screws. Remove the plastic collar. Drill new holes as pictured. Install screws in new holes. Fixed.

No problem. I think I was the first one to actually fix it. Most people didn't sweat it. The high beams apparently don't require to be exactly straight but I did it anyway. The driver is off slightly so I simply drilled new holes directly adjacent to the factory holes to fix that one. I only used 1 screw in each bulb. You can drill 2 holes but 1 is enough to lock it in place.

Cannot remember where I got the picture before I marked it up for the bulb mod. Looking at it one would think the woman holding the bulb had a rough life.

    The fogs or the headlights?

For the fogs, after noticing efficiencies in output of reflector based optics vs forward facing LEDs I wanted to do some longer distance tests to chart the distance vs lux loss slope. I anticipate pods produce higher intensity up close but quickly drop off at distance, where as reflectors are more consistent, lower intensity up close but better maintenance of intensity at distance, outperforming the pods at longer distances. I was supposed to get it wrapped up Friday with the help of another TW member, but was rained out. And it has been raining solid here for a while. Hope to finish it this week, weather permitting.

Also working on mounting lighting in the lower valence without the need for an expensive bumper insert. Pretty sure I have a solution for pods, but unfortunately did not work for the reflector based fogs as I was hoping.

After studying Rigid's pod design, I've come up with what I believe is a way to significantly boost output of their SAE fog. I went to a local truck show this weekend that I knew Rigid would be at to meet with them. Talked over my ideas with their reps and confirmed my ideas are plausible, though expensive (for a consumer). I then showed the reps some of the stuff I've been working on. Lets just say I caught their attention. I may now have an opportunity to work with the Rigid Engineering team on producing my idea in a custom product build. We'll see how (if) that pans out.

If talking about the headlights, still waiting on the work bench with the fogs taking priority. The Rigid possibility will immediately take priority if that works out. I do want to get the headlights documented for forum knowledge/reference as I've bought the stuff and think it would be a good resource but I know the outcome as I have done this test so many times before, so it is really much less interesting to me than pushing into a performance territory no other product has gone. 3rd Gen headlights will still happen though! I need to finish the fogs thread to liquidate the thousands of dollars in fogs/pods to fund the RTT I accidentally bought at the show and the rack I now need to buy to support it. :anonymous:

Dude that’s awesome! Good luck w/ the rigid deal. I’d set that as priority too! Because although some of us are curious to settle the debate and see some documented facts, I highly doubt that if the results are as bad as you’ve stated in the past being more of perception in the eye of the beholder, that we’d all take them out immediately since there seems to be no other plausible replacement, LED is LED at the end of the day and most have already dropped the cash and expressed content. However, it’s more of a curiosity thing at this point. Do you brother and let us know!

Count your blessings. Married 38 years and the wife still won't let me take a picture while she holds mine. Wait. Are we still talking about light bulbs. Nevermind.

Lightning deal on Amazon today for the new Hikari Philips Lumiled bulbs. H11 are $71.99. Just ordered a set to put in my low beams and move my existing Hikari down to the fog housings. Pretty good deal since they have been $89.99 for a while.
