It's a damn good thing his truck is so light. If that was 5-6K pound truck without a roll cage, it would have turned out much different. no way my truck would have been able to be pushed back over and drive itself off the mountain.

I'm a horrible instalander. I don't stop when doing epic shit to take photos.

I was trying every hard line I could on john bull cause having a front locker is AWESOME! Don't worry, I think I failed more times that succeeded.. including getting winched off two rocks during the night run when I clearly should have just given up. Almost took out my driveshaft in that same spot. but that line was crazy awesome.

Haha. Is John Bull a little over rated? Heard it is tough but it's hard to believe what you hear these days.

It was tons of fun. I would say it was similar to rose hill garden in some places and gold bar rim difficutly. tons of rocks to keep a eye on to make sure you don't send one into your drive shaft. with he front locker it's pretty much point and drive. You should go out and do it but need to start early in the morning and avoid the traffic jams. the gate keeper was awesome. @tetten showed me a killer line that worked really good for our trucks and walked right up it.

I wouldn't say over rated because it's a fun trail with great views of Lucerne Valley and Johnson Valley at the top. But doesn't take very long to complete if going with a capable group. I would suggest running Gold Mtn first and cross over 2N16 immdetatly to find the secret connector to the beginning of John Bull..

I like Big Bear but it's always crowded. Usually would start any trail over there at sunrise. But still can be held up.

Gold Mountain can get pretty bad and depending on the spot, you can get held up for a long time if someone is having trouble or is doing a repair on the trail. I've also noticed lately that there's a Jeep 4x4 "tour" group that takes several Heeps up Gold Mtn full of tourists and they can really hold you up if you get stuck behind them. Best time to run it is either really early like you said or later in the afternoon...or during the week.

Ran out of clearance and talent quickly. I may get a little competitive on the trail...
