Wow, that’s terrible for the power stroke! I’m hoping I can average out around 14 around town and maybe try for 16 on the highway. That might be a little lofty, but it seems if i’m Nice to it, it’s achievable.
    Thanks!

Brace yourself for low teens. We have a 2014 F350 2wd reg cab flat bed with the 6.2l makes tons of power and hauls ass. But Best I’ve gotten out of it was 17mpg empty on i90 hyper miling the piss out it. Truck averages 13-14. 10 and under of towing

If I'm truthful with myself, that's what I'm prepared for. I'm hoping for 14 on my daily commute. F150 got under 10 towing so nothing new there, I'm guessing the 6.2 will make less of a fuss towing the same weight as the 5.0 did though. The 5.0 loves to rev.

That 6.2 does sound great so there’s gonna be a lot of temptation to bury the foot in the loud pedal. When I moved back from Michigan I did a round trip with our f350. Going out I averaged like 14-15 but found out the alignment was off. Coming home with the 6x10 enclosed uhual doing 70-75 I was averaging right around 11-12. And it had no problem passing ppl. Truck makes a lot of power and torque and with the bigger gears it can hustle.
The last truck was the 5.4 and it could barely get out of its own way. I’ve heard the 6.4 hemis actually get decent mileage as well

    Yup, you lied at us!!!

Looks sweet. At 4K you're basically getting a new truck for less money. I got my Tacoma at 6.5K.

    Will your tuning software work?

Someone might have already posted, I think @Hunter.415 , but you have 7 days with a trailer too, Lowes is stupid and you can do it. I am sure it doesn't matter anymore now.

@Pugga Congratulations! I really like the look of the new super duty's and would love one, planning on getting a stripped down gasser for "work/plowing" in a couple of years when we have some play money.

@BananaPeelOut The Gassers on the super dutys are much more practical for like 90% of owners these days, a lot of people want diesel because "diesel" without understanding todays diesel is NOT EVEN CLOSE to the ones you grew up with. They have totally neutered everything good about them and added thousands in maintenance. Unless you are doing some really serious miles every year get a gasser 10 out of 10 times. Much cheaper, can tow more and while diesel was simpler in the past, that is no longer the case either. Unless you take all the environmental protection crap off your diesel to make it like the traditional ones, you should just get a gasser. I know a few guys with diesel ones and they barely tow anything they just make more noise. The people I know with the gas models use them all the time for towing big stuff and never have any issues. Diesel is no longer what it was, and is not worth the extra costs for almost everyone alive.

LETS BE VERY VERY CLEAR. IF YOU BUY A SUPER DUTY AND WORRY ABOUT GAS MILAGE YOU ARE INSANE. That is as nice as I can put it. These are big boys, meant for big jobs and you are gonna have to fill up and "pay the cost to be the boss". I think threads on a taco gas milage are stupid, you can imagine how I feel about SD gas mileage worries.

*sorry for gas rant, but I can't help it. I don't understand people who buy trucks then try to hypermile, it's a truck, you aren't here for the good gas milage*

The 6.4 is the best in fuel economy because it's the only one that uses cylinder deactivation. Loaded, it's right on par with the others.
Not sure but not going to tune it until the warranty is up. No need to throw that away.
You are very accurate! In the Super Duty forum, they call it smiles per gallon which goes back to what jztacoma said about the engine sounding so good when you bury your foot into the skinny pedal. I fully realize what I got myself into, just hoping I can eek out some decent mileage. I was realistic and budgeted 12 mpg average when I decided to buy it so anything over that is gravy.

I think it will end up being not too bad, I only get like 15 on my taco and I was getting 17ish with my f-150. You could certainly make it get higher mpgs, but I am a "smiles per gallon" type of guy and like stomping on the gas.

Everyone, it's tax day! If you haven't already filed and sent everything in you should!

Yeah so you planned pretty much for the lower end of average which is good. I want a 3/4 Ton truck but don’t really need it for the 80% of driving I do. Summer is really when I start working the Tacoma a bit to much towing the kubota around and doing all the house projects. F150 be more what I need but then again it’s tough to look at those when a f250 is just a little bit more haha

Edit: to go along with how the 6.2 sounds have someone start while you stand outside. Cold start is pretty mean and has nice little growl to it

Mpgs are not top of my list, but I think everyone should make it a habbit to try and get what you can for mileage, I see it as money in my pocket and maybe if we all try, it will be less consumption. That being said, I love the skinny pedal.

I mean, yeah it is more money in your pocket and everyone has a right to try to keep as much as they can, and they should.

I know I originally had more to this post...but i realized I'm just gonna start ranting all day and don't wanna do that so I will stop myself :anonymous::bananadead:

The F250 is close in price, but I realized an F150 XLT /= F250 XLT

The 250 doesn't have as many options available at the same trim level. I really liked the 302a XLT because it had everything I could possibly want and nothing I didn't while being significantly cheaper than a Lariat.
