My best man sold his GTR to buy a Fusion Hybrid for this reason. I get it. Before I left the Bay Area for good, I was commuting 53mi one way. Took 2.25hr on a good day.

I feel the emmense popularity of the Prius was, at least in part, due to the cultural desire for the owner to let everyone know they are anonymously saving the planet.

I was more commenting on some Californian's ideas of a false economy with regard to their vehicles of choice. The Tesla is fancy, new, Eleon builds rockets and shoots shit into space, and bro, they are made in Fremont by what amounts to borderline sweatshop laborers. What better to emobody the culture there?

Wife and i were looking at hybrids when we sold our little diesel Jeep. It was cheaper to own a New Corolla than a used Prius.

...so we ended up in a G37.

On March 24, 2001 Randy Johnson was pitching for the Arizona Diamondbacks against the San Francisco Giants. SF's Calvin Murray was at bat.

Then this happened. PETA actually tried to sue Johnson on behalf of the bird.

I remember reading an article that said that the jeep was the most green vehicle because they're kept on the road the longest given that they're so simple and easy to repair. And that the Prius was one of the least green vehicles because of the non renewable materials namely the lithium batteries in them that were difficult if not impossible to recycle and the limited availability of materials used in production.

Less emissions doesn't necessarily equal a better vehicle for the planet.

Now, don't go distorting the picture with facts.

We have EMOTIONS in play here.

Perhaps, but look at the ingredients. Malted barley flour. Beer is made from malted barley. So you're enjoying proto-beer for breakfast, and it's socially acceptable. :D

They are being made in the NUMMI plant that Tacoma's used to be made in. Coolest thing about them

Was going to bring NUMMI up, but I didn't want to taint what amazing things they did there by associating them with Tesla.
