Those are the type of lug nuts used with hub centric wheels, and most OEM wheels are hub centric.

That type only holds the wheel on, all weight is supported and the wheel is centered by the hub.

Most aftermarket wheels are going to use the tapered or conical lug nuts which are lug centric

With tapered type the centering is done by the lug nuts and the weight is also supported by them.

Are the 4Runner wheels hub centric?

Is the hub the exact same size as the Tacoma?

If they put the wrong type lugs on it could very well be your problem.

Do you have actual Toyota TRD wheels or the ones that look exactly like them (can’t remember the brand now) that most on here seem to buy? OEM will use the lugs you show, the non OEM ones will not.

    Yes.

    Yes.

The 4Runner TRD Pro wheels use the same lug nuts as the stock Tacoma wheels.

Also worth noting that even though most other TRD wheels use tapered nuts, all Toyota and TRD wheels are hub centric.

Not sure if true, but I was told that the Toyota OEM alloy lug nut is a combination of hub-centric and lug-centric, so that the same lug nut can be used on the spare steel wheel in emergencies.

I would check drum runout while on the vehicle. Also, and more easily obtainable, the amount of drum movement over the center of the axle. The drum should fit over the axle without much slop.

The TSB was released by Toyota USA today. T-SB-0023-18:

The repair procedure involves replacing one or both rear axle shafts, wheel bearing(s), seal(s) and associated components on the rear axle. Covered under the powertrain warranty (5 years, 60k miles/100k kms).

I dont see anywhere it specifies what kind of noise in the tsb just says "Is a vibration or noise present from the rear of the vehicle at low speeds or while braking?". Then it just goes on to inspecting the axles check for rust build up and acle diameter.

That's exactly what I have, a noise while braking.
Where is the tsb printout? Anybody have it? My truck is in right now and I might send this to my service writer.

Apperently my truck was good in regards to the axle spacing which is good. I will see if the noise stops, they did some other stuff. I'm filled with optimism.
Saving it to your computer, then uploading it to your media would be the easiest way I know how.

l got in an argument with a guy at the tire store because I had the spare on with those factory lugs, he insisted they were incorrect but the taper at the end allows them to work.
