With the engine running and the driver's door open there isn't a beep? How did you accomplish that?

The driver's door chime has never chimed with the engine running. I didn't do anything. I did have the dealer disable the seat belt chime, but nothing was done to the door chime. If the truck's not runninng it blasts away.

On the Access cab, the door open switch grounds through the screw. (No idea if DC is same)
    1. Remove screw
    2. Remove rubber cover off of switch
    3. Place a small square of elec tape on switch plate
    4. put tiny hole directly in center of tape for screw to go back through, hole should be smaller than screw so that when the screw goes through, it stretches the tape and doesn't allow the plate to make contact with the screw.
    5. Reassemble - no more ding

Well good for you, but how does that help the OP or the group? Why is your truck different? Is it because you've got a key ignition? Did you do something special?

FYI, I DO have a key ignition. Maybe that's why I have no chime with the engine running. My chime says "don't lock your keys in the truck". Keyless says "your truck's still running"

Still no update for the keyless entries, eh? This and the radio shutting off when hitting the power button is driving me nuts. I'm so used to being able to kill the engine but let the radio still play... now when you put the truck in park and press the push start button, kills everything. Makes sense, but is annoying having to manually place the truck in neutral, kill the engine, then shift to park.. as doing this also prevents the rest of the door locks to "unlock" when shifting to park... little nuances..

How exactly do you avoid it and stop it? An off button and a plunger? I hate this ducking beep!

Have you tried shutting motor off and then just hit the start button once without your foot on the brake? Doing that in our 2018 RAV4 SE will allow just the radio/ACC to work........and hitting it twice without foot on brake turns on all the dash lights (like you need to be able to do to clear maintenance light) Betting it works the same way for trucks.

That's correct, pressing the power twice to get the "AC" mode to kick back on once you've shut the engine off. But that method is stupid. It sounds silly but imagine you're listening to a good song, pull up to where ever you're stopping at, kill the engine... and there goes your song. You then have to wait the 2 or 3 seconds to kick it back to "AC" mode to get the music to come back on... it's just a really flawed design IMO.

Just got back from the dealership, $60 and 1/2 hour of time to have them disable the seat belt chime and there's literally nothing that can be done by them to disable the other chimes that plague this model. I need to do more searching on here as there has to be a DIY method of completely disabling the damn chime but I skipped the "$60" to have them turn the seat belt chime off.

Wish i'd gotten manual instead of this auto, key-less is more of a pain in the ass than it's worth.

I guess where I live I'd keep the motor running to finish listening to a song due to the surface of the sun temps and 1000% humidity. That's the wife's ride tho. Me, I have to put key in door, key in ignition, roll up windows myself with a crank & my alarm = steering wheel lock and a pedal lock on the clutch for starter kill........so it balances out and I don't have to drive her nanny state bell and whistle flagship. I does has blutoof, thumb drive capabilities tho. :D

Yeah, she went nuts when I turned off all that nonsense, lol. How about the cruise control? Do the trucks have that radar crap that adjusts speed to cars a freakin mile up the road from you? I hate that, it activates way too soon. I won't even use cc in her ride. I likes my plain ole cc in mine (that I had to add, lol.)

For those who don’t want to modify anything and want to keep the ding on a need be basis, just push this thing once with your hand as you exit, and for that one session that your door is open and there are chimes and beeps, not seatbelt while driving beeps but door open with vehicle in acc mode, it will disable the continuous door open chime...until the next time.
