So why couldn't the 2nd gen latch design work for these?

That is essentially what were going back to. We really tried to make them more user friendly, just slam it and walk away, a car door latch. The latches we tested were junk so we went to a spring loaded heat treated stainless pin style that located into a socket, that was a great design except it required everything to be perfectly aligned, it works flawlessly on a bench but with frame twist etc that the vehicles see there were instances where it may not properly engage. We are going back to a design that has never failed us and making small changes to it for several platforms.
I wasted way too much time and money overthinking the latch in an effort to make it the best ever but I overshot it. Im not willing to simply use a typical De-Sta-Co latch, they are ok at best and thats simply not good enough.

Sorry about the delays - this is something we are still working on. Just finishing up some other projects first but hope to have more updates soon.

Some pictures of the rear would be rad! I'm in the market for one, and the only other option i'd consider would be CBI. Need all available bed space once I pick up a GoFast Camper.

@Pelfreybilt If you need a 2000 model year for fitment testing, you can borrow mine. It's just collecting dust in the shop at work. Might be minus the passenger front fender for a few weeks though.

Their front bumpers are universal and don’t need to cut anything IIRC

I believe there were some frame differences between the different era's of the first gen. And if they need a truck there to do final production tweaks, i'm not using mine on a daily basis anymore.

No they aren't. They went with the cut the 3'' off the frame horn design.

fully armored, 4.88, 33 skinnies, tundra brakes, a REAL cold air intake.
same as ARB, better thing to do is cut off the crappy plates on the later ones and weld in your own 1/4" angle w/ a nut welded on the back

Oh last I heard they were going the universal. Not that it matters for me I already have a bumper. But cutting it off makes more sense

We are working on it - Unfortunately with Lone Star Jamboree and Expo West coming fast we won't have major details or updates until after. Everyone's patience is greatly appreciated and we completely understand why people are getting antsy.
