Changing my crankshaft position sensor addressed a LOT of bogging issues i had. For example, on my commute, I come to an overpass. The truck would shift from 3rd to 4th. When it hit 4th, I was beginning to hit the incline of the overpass. Before the sensor, id would bog down, lose power, and The truck would vibrate/feel sort of shaky. Now, it shifts the same, but no high-load / low rpm rumbles i used to feel.

I think we’re going to have to accept the fact that this truck will remain in 5th/6th on the highway. Thankfully, the transition between the 2 gears are smooth and goes almost unnoticed (I have exhaust, so i hear it).

    It’s a MPG thing.

But the truck shifting to 4th on the highway because of an overpass, driving into the wind, or even the damn rain, should NEVER happen.

I have not, I'm hoping he's reading some comments on here about the gear change issues. I had no issues with 5-6 on 1.03

I recommend emailing him rather than hoping he notices in this flood of comments. Otherwise it may never be addressed and people will just complain endlessly about it and that just leads to people claiming poor customer service when it could have been addressed by ensuring he is aware

    1. Are you lifted with bigger tires?

    2. That did nothing. Your stock intake is a “cold air intake” because it vents air from outside

    Agreed.

My truck hits 4th and 3rd on big hills, speed dependent.

Stock tires and 103 it would hold most hills in 5th 4th.

    32 inch bfg’s 103/104 , 4th gear every hill.

Tires plus awnings on roof now it’s 4th and sometimes 3rd if I’m not going above 75.

Awnings will be removed for daily commute, have been running them to get an average for fuel economy with them on.

I would much rather have torque than mpg. It is what it is.

You're gonna have to re-gear man... 4.56s or 4.88s and 1.04 is perfect. Adding weight or larger tires drags any vehicle down. Re-gearing is affordable now that these trucks have been out for a while.

for people who want shift points changed, this will be easy to do when I setup for custom tuning. Just let me catch up with a few things first.

Are we going to have to pay for this custom shift points map?

The 3-4 shift point wasn't an issue in 1.02.
The 5-6 shift point wasn't an issue in 1.03.

Seems like a bit of a raw deal if you're changing things in the main maps that are making it worse for a majority of people. Put the 5-6 change back to 1.03's points, lower the 3-4 rpm to 2000rpm and it'll fix 90% of the issues people are having.

Bear in mind my experience is on a stock truck, with stock tires, no additional drag or weight. People adding weight and tires should be the ones needing a custom tune. *awaits the onslaught of abuse*

fine tuning the tune to your truck, at the time I purchased, was listed as part of the purchase so my assumption would be that Mat would dial in the tune to your needs as part of the deal and even updates for future mods as has been stated previously. He has it all down to a process now so I doubt it's that big of a deal now that he knows how to predictably change shift points and whatnot.

My truck has never been as easy to drive as it is now with 1.04. So far I'm loving it, and I'm basically bone stock. The smoother tip in is nice and the shift points are working great for me. But I understand not everybody drives the same and has the same preferences. One tune doesn't fit everybody's wants/needs basically. The custom tuning should hopefully get everyone dialed in and as happy as they can possibly be with these trucks. I haven't even tried ECT yet on 1.04, haven't felt the need to. On stock and 1.02 that was all I would run.

I tried ECT at lunch, it's a whole 'nutha level. Still cut out on WOT 1-2 shift though...

I agree with your point, I would like a aggressive custom tuning, I don't care about mpg. Only want a fast taco.
