Finding a floor plan that works (financially, space wise, design wise, and efficiency wise) is a bitch, I've got it down to 2 plans that I want to merge but I don't know that we can.

Looking into it, original plan was to have an apartment in the shop at the property but dad is dragging his feet about building the shop so we got a mobile home to put over there, it needs to be renovated however and is small for both my sister and I to live in, so we started looking at buying a house in the city (15 minute drive to work vs 40-45) but now we're considering putting that money into building a house on the property, both of us would prefer living on 87 acres instead of in a subdivision, and if I get on at the police department I am in the process with I will have a take home vehicle so fuel cost wouldn't make a difference for the drive.

That’d be nice having a vehicle to drive to work that isn’t yours. I agree with wanting to live on acreage vs in a neighborhood

Yeah, it'll definitely be nice to have a take home patrol car, policy also allows me to use the patrol car for off duty use if I am going to be in the city, going to watch a movie and be in city limits? I can take the patrol car, if I'm going grocery shopping in the city I can take the patrol car, it's a really sweet policy.
It will also be nice to live 2 minutes from the gun range.

It is quite nice. My fuel cost is way lower than it would be and I’ve only put 18k miles on my Tacoma since Novemberish of 2015. Most of that was a trip to NC and back and also a couple to GA and back. And a bunch of random off-road trips.

Our policy says we can use it for personal reasons but they really don’t want people going to the grocery store with it off duty and loading up the trunk with groceries. But my bank is in the city I work in, and I’ve taken it to the bank. The flip side to our take home cat policy is they want you to stop for emergencies like car crashes or take action should you see an intoxicated driver or something of a serious nature.

I would expect the same here (nobody mentioned it and I didn’t ask) but if I was off duty and in a POV I would at least phone it into dispatch and follow until units were on scene ( in the case of DUI) or stop and assist for an accident.

Pretty much what I do. When I’m off duty in my POV all I am is the best witness possible. I took enforcement action once off duty and ended up in a wrestling match with someone. Won’t do that again.

I'm happy I take my truck to work.

Job got muddy pretty bad and the whole crew was asking for a ride onto the job. I took one guy that I talk to.

Track come off of an excavator that is another company's, used my winch and put it back on before i left for the day.

Keep my shovel in it to clean my machine off when I'm done, can't do that in these company's cars

Anyone of you ever take th ASVAB? I showed up one day to school and get pulled into a room and took it. Apparently I did pretty good cause I get recruiters adding me on Facebook every couple of weeks try to get me to join. Which is fine, I’m just not interested.

Thankful for everyone that is though.
