    Had one Subaru. Never again. 2012 Impreza Sport Limited. Had a faulty wiring harness that was too short that made the oil pressure light come on. And to top it off, the car went through more oil than my 1967 Beetle. I told the dealership that it was "burning oil", to which they said Subaru prefers to call it "consuming oil" and that I had just never owned a boxer engine before. They proceeded to tell me that one quart of oil every 1200 miles is completely normal for a Subaru and that I should be checking the oil every other time I get gas and carrying oil with me at all times in the car. I told them its funny how they never mention any of this while you are buying the car or I would not have bought the piece of shit. Subaru offered to give me an allowance to help me get out of it for another Subaru. I said no thanks.

    Do yourself a favor and Google "Subaru oil consumption" and look at all the stuff you find. Ask yourself if you are willing to take the chance of getting one of their vehicles that you have to add oil to every other tank. If you are OK with having to do this, then go ahead and buy one.

    Decent vehicles despite pouring a quart of oil in every month. Bought a used stock 09 Legacy and it developed a crazy intake manifold sensor issue that created dangerous RPM's at idle, then in gear. Very scary. Replaced sensor multiple times then got rid of it.. Anyways I've only personally had 1 Subaru and it was a bust. Also, very proud of myself never becoming a WRX dude even though I wanted one. Those guys..:rofl:

    To be fair, the oil consumption issue was fixed in 2015. It was sticking rings, which have been redesigned.

    I traded a Crosstrek for a 4Runner after looking hard at the 3.6R. Happy with that decision.

    Subaru’s down fall yes is the dam engines suck oil. My sons forester 2005 burns a quart of oil every tank
    full and it has a little or 100,000 miles. My 3.4 tacoma never burned any oil even at 480,000 miles

    Regardless if it is now fixed or not, at that time Subaru denied everything and pretended like this was totally normal and acceptable and the people complaining were just being unreasonable. Subaru would do anything they could to shift the blame to the customer to avoid having to make any repairs.

    A quart every tank is common for subaru,

    My 2015 Outback has never been low on oil between changes.
    Do a search on any vehicle and you will find problems. Go to "CarComplaints.com" and you will find that the Tacoma has had more reported issues then the Outback. Someone gets a bad vehicle and they yell, someone gets a good one and they just drive it. I've had 40 some cars and trucks over the years, a few really good, most OK and some were junk. One GM 1994 4.3 went over 250000 before the rest of the vehicle just wore out. Another blew before 120000 (same year engine).
    My favorite car was a 1966 Valiant, slant 6 with a 3 spd manual. Were all 66 Valiants great cars... I doubt it.

    Had 6 Subaru this is my first tacoma, they are good vehicles if you want to get up and go get a 3.6 npthing else. On all my suby I never had any oil issues so take it as you like. The engine is noisy but youll love it. My wife still has a outback so we're not out of the brand yet. Its one the roomiest japanses car companie on the market for tall people. Winter driving is a blast. They dont haul for shit tho the outback is only one able to and its only 2500lbs or even less i think.

    The new Crosstreks are still made in Japan with 95% of the parts sourced in Japan. Other 5% of the parts are Canadian and U.S. made. 6 speed manual , Apple car play, all weather package, roof rack , factory towing hitch , heated seats, tinted windows, factory door molding, edge guards , Subaru's 10 Year / 100K warranty, and 2 years of free oil changes was only $24,500. What a great value.

    We own an outback 3.6R highest package you can get. Love the car. Leather seats, power seats, plenty of room in the back, smooth ride. You won’t regret it.

    My 3rd gen I can barely fit a baby car seat in the back. Pretty embarrassing.. but the Subaru, plenty of room.

    I have both. 2018 Tacoma and 2014 Outback 3.6R. I originally owned the 4 cylinder outback, but it's lack of power got annoying. The poor wagon couldn't get out of it's own way. I have owned 4 subaru's so far (BRZ, WRX, Outback 4cylinder, Outback 3.6R) and have never had an issue with crazy oil burning. They all burned oil, but it was less than a quart per 5000 miles of stop and go driving.

    If you want Toyota like reliability, get a 3.6R mated to a regular automatic transmission (not the CVT). It is ridiculously cheap to maintain (takes dinosaur oil), and is known to be Subaru's most reliable drivetrain. The CVT started in 2015, so anything before that has pretty much the same drivetrain. Not sure if they fixed it yet, but I know the CVT's were having issues around 100k back when I was looking in 2016. Also, there are MUCH better CVT's out there and subaru's version wasn't all that great (our 4 cylinder had the CVT)

    Part of the reason I went with the 6 speed manual. You can still get the manual in the Forester also.
