I have an appointment for the dealer to look at my 09, and they said the tech has to drive it first. My truck will only lug and shift funny every now and then, so im sure theyre gona say i dont need, they couldnt even fix my spongy brakes which i had to bleed myself. So the people who did have it done did your truck lug at all turns and when you went to speed up, or like mine every now and then.

    Mine did it fairly often.

I'd try another dealer. Mine did the reflash without even looking at the truck first, because they were aware that it is a common problem with the '09's.

Call another dealer up and say, "are you aware of the a reflash for the '09 tacoma transmissions?" If they say no, just hang up, and try another.

Yeah, if you live in a metropolitan area and there are lots of dealers around, I'd find one that has done it. They will be familiar with the problem and likely give you no hassle.

I'd bring the TSB with you, but don't show it to them unless they start to give you a hard time. I've heard of some dealers getting very defensive when the customer busts out the tsb :duel:

I had to use this line when they wanted me to load my truck bed for the spring TSB.

" Why would i need to show or prove to you the problem, that is
    (1) already known, and (2) already has a Technical Service Bulletin to correct it."

In other words, the TSB is confirming that this is a problem - now fix it!

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I'm wondering what problems exactly this TSB solves. My '10 has one transmission vice: it downshifts too far for slow corners. Exiting a corner from a near-stop, I'll find myself in first rather than second gear, so the truck revs for a couple of seconds, losing momentum, and then finally goes into the gear it should. Strikes me as just dumb programming. Will this TSB solve it do you think?
