Yea, the BDS lift seems very high quality, especially with the Fox shocks all around. Everything is still new and breaking in, but so far it rides realllly nice and smooth for such a big lift/wheel/tire combo. The tires are pretty heavy and stiff so I may air them down a bit more just to experiment. But considering these 35" MT beasts are on it, it rides pretty plush. The only thing driving me nuts right now is some fender plastic I am rubbing on occasionally when turning hard. But that will be solved soon with a Dremel I just ordered tonight on Amazon, lol.:sawzall:

I work at a toyota dealership, we got the letter from Toyota saying to check with our counsel prior to lifting any 18 Taco's. That was the official letter, however our General Sales Manager said that our regional rep said that as long as your truck is lifted front and rear the same amount then it shouldn't make a difference. The issue comes in when you raise the front or the rear higher or lower than the other end. We have a 18 pro on the floor in Calvery Blue (ugly color in my opinion), it's a weird lexan plastic looking insert in the grill, I don't like the look at all. I know on the 18's Tundra's you can't change the grill style from say like an SR5 to a TRD grill.
I was going to build an 18 TRD Sport before I found the 17 with all the fun stuff already paid for by some one else, I am happy that I didn't do the 18 for this and many more reasons.

Yea, I am thinking about buying one of those $140 Tacoma Pro knock-off grilles from eBay (looks basically identical to OEM) and moving my TSS sensor to that one. It already has the slot in the grille for the sensor. Someone here did it already and just added that little piece of plexi glass or something in front of it. I may do that soon. I prefer the Pro grille, especially for that price.

Nothing yet. Old truck had the works.
Hey I wanna do the same lift and 35s. Have you trimmed according to BDS recommendations for 35s? If so are you able to get full articulation without rubbing offroad?

    Thanks.

This issue will flush out in a few months. Dealers make a shit ton of money on selling modded trucks and they are not going to let that cash cow out of the barn!

Fml.. so I can’t replace my 2018 grill to the pro grill without some sort of modification to the sensor??

I tried getting a 17’ but it was dec.31st, and a good deal. Figured what the hell.

Any write ups on it?... with how-to pictures? Lol

I'm really hoping Toyota releases a TRD pro grill for the 18 Taco that will work with the TSS, since it seems so many people are interested in it and are already doing there own work-around modifications. Being a piece of safety equipment and probably highly tuned for detecting a moving vehicle 90' away I'm a little hesitant to mess with the TSS myself .

Agreed! I’m fine with hacking things, but I don’t want to mess with this. I also don’t want to get rid of it, it came with the truck. If I can modify my truck while keeping certain things functioning like they should from the factory then I’m all in.

Thats a bad deal... I was just under $40k with 3" Fox 2.5 w/ RR, dakar leaf packs, all-pro UCA and 285/75/16 KO2's with a full size spare on a 2016 TRD OR 4x4. I guarantee you they will either install spacers or blocks which only cost a few hundred $ or if you go 4" you will be doing a drop bracket lift cutting your front cross member to drop the front diff.

    Another tester checking in...

installed Fox 2.5’s last weekend. Currently at 1” lift only in the front and everything works as it’s aggravating supposed to, I have the sensitivity turned all the way down.

Planning on raising the front and adding a rear lift shortly, will report back.

Only if they agree to pay for all damages if accident reconstruction reveals it was improperly calibrated. Won’t happen.
My question is if I screw with the system will my insurance company refuse a claim because I screwed with a SAFETY SYSTEM?

By screwing with the system I take it as if you decide to do a lift. Good question. I wonder how the dealer would respond to the same question on there lifted trucks. The same can also be said for a 6" lifted truck that rolls on a corner. Would the insurance company cover damages? Something to ask your insurance company.

I turned the front up to about 2.25” today with no rear lift without any issues. and I had the factory wheels and tires in the bed to exaggerate it even more.

Rear lift is in route btw, just not arrived yet.

Lifting the truck won't cause vsc and tss problems. Let's hope they will do the repair under warranty.

The Alignment fixed both. Mechanic said the steering wheel being misalignmed tripped the yaw sensor. That threw the VSC out and because of that the pre-collision went out. Chain reaction haha. All good now. Just had to pay for a pricey alignment.

Not wasted money because after a lift you should get an alignment.
