I have determined it was grease on the exhaust. Drove back from school in 4HI and no smell when I got out of the truck. On the topic of dealerships, do you plan on doing your own ATF? I'm already thinking about 100K service and I'm 50/50 on doing myself because I may get other stuff done. I have heard to do belts, hoses, water pump, tensioners, pullies, etc. at the same time. Not sure if this would be more cost effective, easier to do at the dealership being my truck is my daily so I can't have it out of commission more than a day.

True. I did my Tacoma and it was a pain to get it to align right.

OOPS the Chiahuahua desert took a bite.

So should I go with CBI, Pelry, ARB or Trail Gear I like the stinger in the trail gear but not sold on how they look on Tacoma’s. ARB sticks out a bit I think? Suggestions for RC bumper. Thanks

I purchased a set of headstrong 3 AAL’s in the fall and I’ve just been sitting on them until I can get 5160’s so I can install at the same time instead of having to tear the ass end apart twice. I just purchased air bags from airlift. Would y’all ditch the AAL and run just bags and 5160’s On stock springs? Or AAL, bags, and 5160’s. I pull and haul stuff quite often, especially in the summer.

And who has airlift bags? What’s your take on them. Got a pretty good deal for em.

    Thanks guys!

My bank sent me an email saying I can get a free carfax report (I think they were trying to hand out auto loans also lol) so I put my vin number in to see what my truck went through with the previous owner.
Looks like the previous owner took it to the dealership every 5,000 miles for oil and it also reported when they did air and cabin filters. Luckily no accidents or major maintenance at all done on it.
There was no record of any transmission or axle fluid changes at all which worries me a bit as my truck is creeping up on 100k. I'll probably change out all that fluid this weekend just so I know everything is ok in my transmission and axles

I have the Firestone Ride Rites and like them but I don't wheel, just added them for ride height control since my taco is rarely empty but the load varies and they allow me to tune the ride and avoid killing my leaf springs.

Of course it's easier to have the dealership do it. And you'll pay for the convenience!:spending:

Haha stating the obvious I guess. I should have worded that better. Would the convenience be worth the cost is my real question? Anyone have experience with servicing all that? Water pump, belts, hoses, pullies

I haven’t done anything with the water pump, pulleys or hoses. Rest is relatively easy IMHO

I'll probably end up doing it on my own. I'll set a weekend aside from it and probably get a buddy to help because whenever I work on the truck I always end up having to run to the store for something (need a tool or something else broke). That is a future me problem. I just did my 60K service.
