I think it is that tranny it has a low gear then 1,2,3,4,overdrive I guess it’s the zf6!! I don’t use the low gear until I pull something heavy it only goes 5mph in low. I know one thing thing going 60 at 2300 rpms is crazy!!

Yeah.. a bit over the weight rating. 16k was max then i toned it back to 12k. I didn't know how much it weighed until after it was full of sand. It rained a few days before so it was a bit heavier than expected.

7 miles, no traffic or passes.

Power and suspension... No bueno. Yeah suspension would be easy fix. Was looking forward to August for a new silverado 1500, but waiting to see weight ratings and gas mileage details.

Why didn’t/aren’t you getting a diesel if towing and hauling heavy loads are going to be a daily occurrence for you? If you’re a Chevy guy check out the Duramax.

Yeah that's what I am leaning towards. Wasn't planning on towing a bunch originally. The 1500 Silverado is going to offer a diesel with a 10spd for 2019 but they haven't released any numbers. And i was possibly going to have access to a 3500 but i don't.

Was also tossing around the possibility of being able to tow full size machinery, but I don't think i want to go that big.

    @Iamraiderpower et al

Anything worth seeing in DFW or Houston area during the second half of the year? I have spirit miles I want to use and they seem to fly nowhere interesting that the miles actually make a difference. Its at the use or lose time... and I'm leaning towards lose :p

Oh shit! Yeah it is then! Yeah low is pretty useless unless youre towing really heavy. Do you know what that truck is geared at? Should be 3.73 or 4.10

Mosquitos the size of giraffes, temp gauge reading 100+ in October/November, seeing yourself needing a shower every 5 minutes from the humidity, and transplanted Californians everywhere (sorry @CharlieCafe :D)

That's kinda what I figured, last time in Dallas it was a "cool" front and I still was warm but not uncomfortable. Trying to see if I can just get the free flight there to zip off to somewhere interesting. Guess I'll watch out for Houston deals.

Truth about all of the above! And I do have a couple of friends from San Diego that moved there...but I get a temporary pass whenever I come down. Dad is from Corsicana area(he grew up in an orphanage there) and I have family born and raised in Texas, mostly in the DFW area and a few spread out in Bluff Dale and Grandview

Houston is even worse. If you want to go somewhere fun, fly into Austin or San Antonio and hang out in the hill country. Do the Texas BBQ tasting of your life. Hang out on 6th and Congress to see some cool shit. Come see ACL. He’ll hang out with the Austin/SA Crowd of Texas (Texas Toyota Coalition) @ChadsPride is the founding father of it, and damn thing is huge. Them fellas(and gals) have a great time. I’m certain you tell em you are coming to town they will show you a good time including off roading at Hidden Falls. Also you can hike some badass places down in central Texas. So much to do there. Here in DFW and Houston it’s nothing but suburban hot as fuck hell. Central Texas is legit AF.

You should check for flights into Phoenix and head up to Sedona from there for lots of good hiking and biking.

It would just be a flight down there to take advantage of cheaper direct South America flights. I do have family who live in Austin that I need to get down and see. Spirit doesn't fly their clunkers to Austin from Denver unfortunately... at least according to their map.

Thought about it, but Spirit doesnt fly their clunkers there from denver either.

I guess Austin is usually cheap enough. They are always traveling all over the place so the hardest part is finding them when they are home.

What part of the Tejas wasteland do you hail from?

Weather forecast is still calling for 5-8" on Friday! Could it be the first time this "winter" that there is more than an inch on the ground for 24 hours??!

Although I want it, I also dont... can surely get building done on the homestead.
