Truck got hit yesterday by a semi backing into the loading dock while parked at work. After A LOT of inspection by me, it appears to be just cosmetic damage. Gonna need all new front plastic, a driver's side headlight and BD fog light, and a quarter panel since it is super warped. Cooling system works so far, and the crash structure appears fine at this point.

Drove it home yesterday at 80 mph, drove back this morning (60 miles round trip) and don't really feel anything mechanical was off (vibes, buzzing, etc). I pulled the security footage today when I got in and the impact was worse than I thought though. Now I am rethinking if there was anything mechanical that I should have looked at when I take it in for an estimate next week. Any thoughts?

Id check your alignment since you slid sideways a bit, but it doesn't look too awful bad from the video. Take the insurance money and get an aftermarket bumper and winch :)

Great that you have video of the incident. No denying blame there!

Damn, that sucks dude, get that insurance money. I'd get a further inspection, if you have enough money, then get a bumper!

Yeah that sucks that it happened. It’s been said a 1000 times before; time to turn lemons into lemonade.
I’d for sure have the aluminum bumper support looked at along with anything that may have compromised the air bag system. No damage to the hood at all? Latches and unlatched smoothly no binding?

Crash bar may be tweaked, but I can't get a good look at it. It angled my light bar up that I have stashed in that lower valence, so its possible. The irony is I was looking at ARB bumpers as the shipping team came into my office to break the news.

Hood appears fine. How the bottom of the trailer missed it is beyond me, but glad it did. Everything else was wonky around it, but the lines on the passenger headlight and fender looked normal, so I think is just the driver's side and front that need some love. Estimator inspection is going down on Monday AM.

3rd party trucking company; Driver was WAY off the loading dock lines and took him like 6 more shots to get it right. We are on a tricky corner, but damn. Nice enough guy that took full responsibility immediately, so I'm trying to tell myself it was an honest mistake and it'll all get sorted. We all know how much we love our trucks though, so its a little bitter.

Honestly. That’s a great attitude to have!!! When crappy things like this happen to me I just want nothing more than if it never happened at all. If the insurance company is one of those who just cuts a check then I’d say it’s time to upgrade and make it better than it was even if it costs you a little extra out of pocket. If you just want it back the way it was then no need to make the situation worse by milking them for every penny. Like you said it was an honest mistake. If the guy was an ass about it then it would be a different story. Best of luck getting it fixed!

Yeah, USAA is my insurance, and they always have treated me well. They also do well at having your back when other companies play games from friend's experiences.

The other good news is Utah has a HUGE Toyota community, so getting recommendations for great shops to do the body work was easy. A lot of the techs are Toyota buffs as well. I am really looking at the ARB bumper, but am not sure I am ready to drop the money for the suspension upgrades just yet. I could probably get away with stock suspension for another month or two since I'm a weekend warrior.

Take the cash payout, replace everything damaged minus the bumper and save the rest. Sure you'll drive around for the next month with an ugly bumper, but that just means that when you can afford the suspension you want you can upgrade both at the same time.

Yeah, that's about what I have in my head. Maybe more honestly depending on what the crash bar stuff costs.

Hurts to see a super white hurt, I would definitely check for frame damage. A lot of the times it’s the small impacts that have a lot of underlying damages.
